The Animal Foundation |
Report of the Trustees |
for the Period 14 February 2017 to 28 February 2018 |
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with |
the financial statements of the charity for the period 14 February 2017 to 28 February 2018. The trustees have adopted |
the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities |
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of |
Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015). |
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE |
Charitable activities |
The Animal Foundation was registered as a charity in November 2017 in order to raise funds for the many, mainly |
smaller, animal charities and causes in the UK that are doing great work but who find raising funds a challenge. |
The Charity's strategy was to work with an external lottery management company to raise funds via the sale of lottery |
tickets. The Trustees have spent most of the first period of operations launching a website and social media page |
communicate with prospective supporters and build a community. |
FUTURE PLANS |
Unfortunately due to a change of strategy by the intended external lottery management company the Charity is now not |
able to launch a lottery so The Animal Foundation no longer has a viable source of funding. As this is the case the |
Trustees have taken the very difficult decision to close the Charity. |
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT |
Governing document |
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by |
guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. |
The Charity's objects are specifically restricted to the following, for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of |
animals in need of care and attention and in particular to: |
1) Provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals. |
2) To make grants in particular but not exclusively to other charities who assist animals in need of care, protection, |
attention and treatment to animals. |
3) To promote humane behaviour towards animals by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for |
animals which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances, ill usage or are |
endangered. |
4) To educate the public in matters pertaining to animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering |
among animals. |
