Since starting in 2020 to support UK charities and students in the pandemic, Studenteer has continued to connect students to charities, non-profits and mentors for remote, volunteer placements. Since launching, over 3,843 higher education students from 114 UK universities have signed up to Studenteer, helping 481 UK charities. 759 projects have been requested by charities, of these 100 have been completed, and many more are ongoing projects that students rotate with, giving multiple opportunities and increased volunteering support where needed. Studenteer continues to give free webinars, workshops, career advice and mentoring to students, with many students going on to graduateships and full term paid employment in their fields following graduation. Case study:Louise Answers, Undergraduate student at Newcastle University. After completing the first year of a marketing and management degree at Newcastle University, Louise has spent time during the COVID-19 lockdown undertaking remote voluntary work"On the Studenteer website, it was quick and easy to complete the sign-up form, highlighting what skills I wanted to develop. Studenteer matched me with a project and a mentor based on my interests and time commitments. For over a month now, I've been working as a marketing strategist volunteer with Birthlight, a non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing the health and wellbeing of women and their families during and after pregnancy.Together with my mentor Sarah, we've created new campaigns and marketing strategies to relaunch both the Birthlight and Lullaby Quilt websites and social media channels" - Louise.
