Company activities and impact

In particular, the company’s activities will be carried on for the benefit of women in Commonwealth countries in business to progress in companies breaking down gender barriers in all sectors and/or to start up and grow their own businesses through an increase in the number and enhancement of the success rate of women-owned businesses to benefit their communities, countries and the Commonwealth. We work to support women at all stages of their business journey and business growth and as they transition from micro to small to medium and larger business and, if in a corporate role, individuals’ development and progression. This recognises the need to support, train and mentor women from start-up through to mid-term, through to exit and thereby create a cyclical pattern whereby those who have been invested in, invest back into the business community. This is also in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and UN Agenda 2030 and the Commonwealth Charter. The Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network is an accredited organisation recognised by 53 governments across six continents and works with women in business by connecting Governments and the private sector to encourage, enable and embed women’s economic empowerment.Activities held in the reporting period and countries involved and impacted:-10/07/2019-14/07/2019 Nigeria Trade Mission - CBWN Nigeriaand The United Kingdom20/08/2019 CBWN Kenya launch event with Kenya Govt, UK, Canada, Sri Lanka and Rwanda High Commissions27/08/2019-31/08/2019 Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda Cluster Week with the Commonwealth Secretariat, involving representatives from Australia, Bangladesh, Dominica, The Gambia, Malawi, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan and The United Kingdom09/09/2019-12/09/2019 Commonwealth of Learning Nineth Pan-Commonwealth Forum (PCF9) on Open Learning with the Commonwealth of Learning connecting learners from Glasgow, Antigua and Barbuda, Cameroon, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and The United Kingdom15/09/2019 21/09/2019 12th Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting (12WAMM), Nairobi, Kenya, representation included from The Bahamas, Canada, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Rwanda and The United Kingdom22/10/2019-24/10/2019 GSMA Mobile World Congress: Los Angeles - Women4Tech Summit with GSMA.
