    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover represents sale of goods excluding VAT

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    depreciation is provided at the following rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful lifefixtures, fittings and equipment = 25% on cost

    stock is valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value after making due allowance for slow moving items

Company activities and impact

The company runs the village shop providing Post Office services and selling local produce including fruit, veg, meat, bread and essentials for the benefit of the community.Local residents visit the shop benefitting from the ability to shop close to home especially those with mobility issues.It’s been a rock to those who live alone or been isolating, giving them some face-to-face contact they might not otherwise have.We have 50+ volunteers who contribute to the success of the shop and enjoy ‘giving back’ to the community and meeting other residents.Local suppliers are also well supported in the shop

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are residents of and visitors to Frensham, and local producers of food and drink products in the surrounding area. The directors of the company have lived in Frensham or Dockenfield for a number of years and developed the business model for the shop based on their experience of talking to other residents.We regularly interact with customers of the shop and frequently canvass local residents to gain an understanding of how they use the shop, what they find beneficial and how improvements or alterations in terms of the stocklist could benefit them.There are various committees and sub-committees ensuring knowledge and skilled voices are heard, whilst including a broad selection of local residents
