Community Project Activities AchievementsProvided a dedicated community breadline social networking opportunity for daily and weekly contacts with members and also organised projects that brought people together online to celebrate and share stories and experiences and survival strategies.Burns Supper Night Celebrations 30th January 2021BEMIS Scotland sponsored this event with funding of 850. Although the funding was for ACES to celebrate Burns Supper Night, the money was deposited and administered through our development partner; the African and Caribbean Women Association. As ACES did not yet have a bank account at that point. The Night zoom event brought together some retired members from different parts of the world, including the Caribbeans, South Africa, Kenya, and even America. The night 2021 celebration include storytelling, bagpipes and Gaelic recitals We organised the celebration of African and Caribbean independence days with a special quarterly zoom, celebrating a cluster of countries in which Independence Day falls within that quarter. Our 2021 Africa Day Celebrations invited Dr Gamali Tordzro and Professor Milton Allimadi to share their insight of wisdom with us.Black History Months Celebration 2021. The Theme was Intergenerational Family Wellbeing. The event was sponsored by Coalition of Racial Equality and Rights. Some of our young artists and musicians were involved Doors Open Days Activities with Scottish Civic Trust in September 2021, this was in partnership with the Scottish Civic Trust.
African and Caribbean Elders in Scotland (ACES) serve as a strategic umbrella organisation for old and elderly Africans and the African Diaspora community in Scotland. Therefore, it's focus is in developing and delivering a national elderly care development strategy for all African and Caribbean communities in Scotland.We consult other social networking groups and share experiences and arrange community visits to those in our community who are most vulnerable to the problems associated with isolated living in ScotlandWe also liaise with local authorities, the NHS and the Scottish/UK Governments on matters relating to the wellbeing and the welfare of the old and elderly people in the African and Caribbean Communities in Scotland. We work with funders such as BEMIS in order to get their financial supports.
