At the start of 2022, A4W CIC, joint CEO's still focussed very much on easing of fears and tensions due to the uncertainty around lockdowns and coming out of lockdown. We have been especially focussed on supporting Compassionate Community volunteers to re-start their Community Hubs. We also picked up on a couple of projects that had been postponed due to the lockdown, and we were able to use our research and training from the previous year to inform the creation of new intervention techniques and projects, in particular, our work with young people at risk of homelessness, youth art cafe, Ukrainian refugees welcome project and young people not in school learning hubs.
The company’s stakeholders are the residents and visitors in the communities that we work in, third sector agencies or organisations that offer services in the local area and statutory services such as the local GP’s, frailty teams and community mental health teams. Also, everyone who attends / participates in one of our events, projects, training sessions are asked what they enjoyed? what worked? what they would like to see happening. Like last year the emphasis has been upon where have the gaps in provision been? What was missed most during lockdowns? And What have been the main difficulties affecting the different community groups and professional support organisations as staff start to get back to normal working regimes. The responses have been significant impacts from lack of third sector and local authority support in the communities, Difficulties in accessing gp appointments, health and dental services. Increased sedentary behaviours leading to increase in a whole raft of illness’s and a huge increase in particularly Young People’s Mental Health. There have been increasing struggles for all living in rural areas with the austerity measures, price increases, lack of opportunities for work.A4W continue to respond to needs arising from communities and devise innovative creative interventions to address a whole range of issues pertaining to physical and mental health; Devise Personal, Professional and Community development events and opportunities as well as work with a range of third sector and statutory departments to best develop networks and projects.
