COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

RE:STORE AXE VALLEY CIC

Company Number: 12693267 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2023

Company activities and impact

One of the aims of RESTORE is to look after the vulnerable and less fortunate and to bring a sense of happiness and belonging to the wider community. The following illustrates the activities that have benefited the community during this financial yearSet up of a community cafe in Seaton hospital working with the NHS Property Services and The Community Waffle House in Axminster. The aim was to deliver a sustainable space where community groups could meet, exchange ideas and utilise to expand their services. The community cafe also provides a space where volunteers can meet, assist groups within our community, and interact with one another in a warm, neutral and comfortable space.Coordinating local volunteers to provide assistance, connectivity and aid to those who were most vulnerable in the community. This included tasks such as shopping, one to one befriending service, computer assistance, dog walking, as well as regular texts and telephone conversations to help combat isolation and loneliness.Helping vulnerable members of the community, assessing their needs and how we can help or point them in the right direction and assisting with essential necessities such as, homelessness, cooking facilities and domestic help.Setting up of a CIC website to regularly update the community on local volunteer groups, how to get help in the community and information on local services.Working with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Health and Wellbeing Alliance to assist our local community.Furthering our role as the Voluntary Sector Representative for the local community in the Axe Valley. This means that Restore is part of a care network made up of local GPs, social services, care teams, social prescribers and pharmacists who meet weekly to confidentially discuss local patients or known local people who are vulnerable and may need support. Restore represents the volunteers in the area and seeks to work with the team to provide help where possible. Restore helped setup and deliver a 1st Aid project with Seaton Town Council to provide assistance to the community and tourists during the busy summer periods.Liaising with the local foodbank and referring those in need to their service.Helping to connect the community by informing, promoting and working together with localorganisations, projects and social groups.

Consultation with stakeholders

The CIC stakeholders are residents in the local community. The directors of the CIC have lived in the local community for several years and RESTORE Axe Valley CIC was set up to continue what had been established by the Seaton Coronavirus Community Group, which emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, building on the fantastic help provided by volunteers, along with the strong sense of community that emerged. We have communicated with our volunteers and local organisations, as part of the care network, to ensure we can help where and when possible, all those in the local vicinity who are in need of assistance. We have continued to assist and support the local community building on the numbers since becoming established.Through discussions via the VSR care network and other local organisations such as Seaton Town Council, Tripp, Save Food Hub, Seaton Food Bank, local churches and others in the community, Restore Axe Valley CIC is constantly looking at ways it can help the local community and be part of local initiatives that benefit the Axe Valley.
