The Parent Hood of Harlow’s main aims are to champion women-led business, support maternal mental wellbeing and improve early years outcomes.Achievements of these aims in the year ending 31st Jan 2023 have been as follows:Providing baby signing courses to low-income families at no cost. This helped reduce social isolation for new parents and babies under 6 months old.Acquiring the lease of, and refurbishing a disused Quaker Meeting House which was blighting the local community. Our neighbours are delighted to have us there.Providing a clean and well-maintained dedicated early years space for the community to hire for their own classes / events at a reasonable price.Providing a well-maintained space for local women-led businesses to use. Their customers love the space which helps towards retention which benefits their businesses long term.Actively promoting these businesses to ensure their successHosting a Women’s Business Networking event. Excellent connections were made and many collaborative projects have been born from this event.Helping 2 women launch their own businesses – offering support, advice and promoting them. One of these businesses has become very successful in the local community doing a lot of work with the local council.Launching a brand-new stay and play just for under 5s. We pride ourselves on offering healthy snacks and limiting numbers. Again, reducing self-isolation among parents in the community.
