Balance sheet statements

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    The turnover shown in the profit and loss account represents revenue earned during the period, exclusive of Value Added Tax.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets with a value over £350 are capitalised. Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost of the asset, less any residual value, over its economic life. Market equipment is depreciated on a straight-line basis over three years.

    Valuation information and policy

    Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow-moving items. Cost is calculated using the Last In, Last Out (LILO) method and includes all direct expenditure

Company activities and impact

Kew Village market is a local monthly market run by the community for the benefit of the community. The community is defined as residents and organisations based in Kew and the local surrounding areas. The principal activities of Kew Village Market CIC are to run and manage the market and raise funds through the rental of market stall pitches and sundry sales from the market's own stall. All profits made have been donated to local charities and community groups for specify projects and activities either during the period or shortly after the period ended.

Consultation with stakeholders

Members and key volunteers meet on a regular basis to manage activities and address any issues. The public are invited to give feedback, get involved and raise any concerns through the Kew Village market website or in person at the monthly markets. Marketing materials are regularly produced and all key information i made available on the Kew Village Market website.
