In September 2023 we hosted two Artists in Residence chosen from open submission and funded by the Radcliffe Foundation. One midcareer artist and one recent graduate spent a fortnight with us free of cost. We taught them to forge steel and work copper and they were able to feed this into their work. One of the artists teaches at an art college and the other works with young children so the skills they learnt will be disseminated to a wider community. We also attended The Festival of Making at University College London, EMF Camp and the London Harvest Festival. Over the course of the year we gave approximately 350 people (including many with special learning needs) the opportunity to have people had a hands experience either in our workshop or off site.
Our key stakeholder continues to be our Landlord, Lambourne End Centre for Outdoor Education where our workshop is based. Lambourne End is pivotal in allowing The Urban Crafts Foundation to thrive by allowing us to use their resources for very little cost. Throughout the last year we have been able to share one of the volunteers time who works on site and he has become a valued member of our team. We also value feedback from all of our clients and volunteers who work with us at the forge and evaluate feedback forms that are provided after all of our events.
No remuneration was received
