    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Income and expenses are included in the financial statements as they become receivable or due.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses.Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases:Plant and equipment 33.33% straight lineThe gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale proceeds and the carrying value of the asset, and is credited or charged to surplus or deficit.

Company activities and impact

Safer by Sound provide Music, Drama, Dance/Movement, sound recording (Digital) and film/film editing workshops for people with health issues, people in recovery from Alcohol and substance dependency and those with lifelong disability issues.In the past year along with our local partners Inspiring Leith, St James Church community hall, Building Bridges Community meals, Satosa community wellbeing Cafe and Leith Festival Association, we have run workshops for Dance and Movement workshops, Drama workshops, Filming and film editing workshops, Green screen workshops (Film effects), Sound studio workshops, culminating in performances, film nights.With Inspiring Leith and St James we hold a performance night known as the Well, the first Saturday of every month. Along with our community partners we have provided 6 community meals at Satosa Cafe and many coffee mornings.We also have a Marquee we set up and use at Leith Festival with 10 performers on the day. We use the Marquee during the summer at other local festivals including Leith Croft. Most of our participants are often not given the chance to perform elsewhere.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are people with health issues, lifelong disabilities, people in recovery from alcohol and substance dependency and those disenfranchised from society.Safer by Sound is a ground up organisation. With the remit, it is the participants who choose the program they wish to explore, what it should be about etc. We enable each program is part of feedback by its nature.We also have many long term participants who come along to workshops time and time again.We encourage our stakeholders to participate in the running of the company and organising of workshops/events and to take responsibility and help run said programmes/events.
