During 2022/23 financial year we returned all our projects to face to face delivery and have continued to grow our reputation in the field of dance and health. During this year our work has gone from strength to strength and in particular our Dance for Dementia project is very successful, with increasing demand for the work. It has been wonderful to deliver the work with the addition of costumes and a trolley. We completed a short film about the work in October 2022. Our Dance for Parkinson's class returned to face to face in June and our Dance for Dementia project returned to Southmead Hospital in June 2022. In September 2022 we began delivery in Weston General Hospital and in January 2023 we began delivery at Bristol Royal Infirmary, this was made possible with additional funding from the BNSGG Ageing Well programme. The State of Trust Bridgewater care home project continued until the end of July, this was very successful with high numbers of participation. As part of the delivery Rachael James provided a detailed training plan for dance artists to understand ways of delivering work to older people in care home settings. Our ‘Spinning Misfits’ pilot continued monthly. We trialed a project at a supported living home in Central Bristol, engagement, access, and necessary support proved difficult, so we discontinued this. Our weekly Misfits classes continue to go well and our Dance for Parkinson’s session is well attended and successfully running at Coniston Community Centre. We have delivered further Enhanced Care training to medical staff at Southmead Hospital and are pleased with how well dance within the hospital environment is being received. Staff recognise the value of dance in helping the physical and mental wellbeing of the patients and staff often reflect that it makes them feel batter too. During 22/23, we have continued to raise the company profile, received further funding to support the continuation of our hospital-based work, engaged many new participants, started new projects, and further developed and delivered our ‘Dance for Dementia’ project and we are now engaging around 140 participants across all our sessions every week.
The Company Stakeholders are performers, audiences who see and participate in our performance work, workshop participants and people who attend our regular classes/projects. We receive a lot of informal positive feedback from audiences who experience our work.Workshop/class participants are asked to give regular informal feedback in comments books and where appropriate to fill in evaluation forms at the end of our courses. Our response to the feedback that we receive is to allow it to inform the development and improvement of future areas of our work. We evaluate all our workshop sessions on a weekly basis. Members of the Company are regularly asked for feedback and ideas for development of future projects.
No remuneration was received by the Directors of The Original Spinners CIC - Rachael James, Jasmine Loveys, Rachael Walsh & Bianca Bertalot for their roles as Directors. The directors do not receive any income for their roles as directors. We do however work as freelancers delivering the companies workshops, projects, and performances. The amounts of freelance income received by directors:Rachael James received £19,926.00 as freelance income planning and leading company workshops, projects, and performances. Rachael Walsh received £12,470.00 as freelance income delivering company workshops, projects, and performances. Jasmine Loveys received £120 as freelance income for project management.
