Y Plant Affricanaidd is dedicated to enhancing the safety of African families by providing crucial Child Protection Awareness programme. Our work is concentrated on sharing comprehensive information about the child protection laws in the UK, emphasizing their significance, and educating families on how to adhere to these laws.A crucial element of Y Plant Affricanaidd's programme is the dissemination of information about child protection laws in the UK. Understanding that these laws may differ from those in their home countries, the organisation ensures that African families are informed about the legal expectations and requirements in the UK. This knowledge enables families to protect their children effectively and also facilitates their successful integration into the community.Y Plant Affricanaidd provides Cultural Competence for Professionals, an initiative designed to bolster the understanding and skills of professionals working with diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly African families.Y Plant Affricanaidd focuses on providing tailored parenting courses for African families in the UK. Recognising the unique challenges these families may face while raising their children in a culturally diverse society, Y Plant Affricanaidd has designed these courses to bridge knowledge gaps and empower parents.Having understood the complexities of the fostering process and the specific challenges that African families may encounter, Y Plant Affricanaidd provides targeted resources and support to demystify the process and make fostering more accessible.Y Plant Affricanaidd facilitates community engagement through a diverse range of activities, from cultural events to support groups and community meetings. These initiatives foster a strong sense of community, mutual respect, promote cultural exchange, and provide crucial support mechanisms for African families in Wales.

Consultation with stakeholders

Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC is committed to serving the African community in Wales by providing support, resources, and opportunities to enhance their well-being and integration within Welsh society. As part of our ongoing commitment to our stakeholders, we regularly consult with them to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of our programs and services.Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC has four key stakeholder groups:- African Families in Wales: They receive support in areas like child protection awareness, culturally sensitive parenting courses, and advocacy services.- African Families Interested in Fostering Services: The organization assists them with guidance and support throughout the fostering process.- Health, Social Care, and Education Professionals: Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC offers services to help these professionals understand cultural differences and improve cultural competence in assessing African families involved in child protective services.- African Communities and Individuals: The organization provides tailored resources and opportunities to enhance the well-being and integration of African communities and individuals within Welsh society.Consultation and Feedback: As part of our annual report, Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC has actively engaged with our key stakeholders through training sessions and meetings. During these consultations, we gathered valuable feedback from each stakeholder group.The feedback received from our stakeholders consistently highlighted the urgent need for further dissemination of information and training on child protection awareness among the African community in Wales. Key points raised by our stakeholders include:- African families in Wales expressed a desire for more accessible and culturally sensitive child protection awareness resources and parenting courses.- African families interested in fostering services emphasized the need for clearer guidance and support throughout the fostering process.- Health, social care, and education professionals stressed the importance of enhancing cultural competence in assessing African families involved in child protective services to ensure fair and effective support.- African communities and individuals highlighted the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance their well-being and integration within Welsh society through tailored programs and opportunities.Y Plant Affricanaidd CIC takes the feedback from our stakeholders seriously and is committed to addressing their concerns. We will use this valuable input to inform our future initiatives, ensuring that we continue to meet the needs of the African community in Wales and further our mission of promoting child protection awareness and cultural integration.
