The Company activities will provide benefits to victim survivors church ministers and communities on the subject of domestic violence within black majority churches and faith groups. The community will benefit by addressing the poor response of Black Majority Churches(B MC) to tackling Domestic Abuse (DA). Whilst DA happens in all communities, BMC work in areas and communities where poverty and other issues of immigration status etc. means that DA is less likely to be reported. Training churches and church leader s is critical to improving responses to domestic abuse and local in multi agency partnerships. To date, Black Majority churches have been on the periphery of domestic abuse interventions and multi -agency working and are under researched. Little is known about how they address domestic abuse. We have developed a toolkit especially designed for their use based on tried and tested Restored Relationships model that is easily replicated. It is imperative to us that the message and development of the requisite approaches reaches all BMC across the UK. We want churches to be vigilant and visible in their actions to send a zero-tolerance message for domestic abuse.
The Black Church Domestic Abuse Forum will provide consultancy to faith -based institutions on the subject of domestic abuse. In addition, it will provide consultancy to external support agencies in relation to work in victim-survivors who attend BMC.
