The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 May 2023

Principal activities of the company

LPFF held a festival of films in the period November to December 2022. This comprised of screenings of nine films. We also hosted an exhibition of photographs by Palestinian photographers during this period..During the year we held another screening as part of the Leeds Scalarama rogramme.The festival and additional screenings attracted new and diverse audiences who wished to learn about Palestinian history, society and culture,The films were a mix of documentaries and feature films made by Palestinians and film makers internationally and four were accompanied by speakers who engaged the audience in discussion and one involved a choir who had been on a recent visit to Palestine.LPFF offered the opportunity for audiences to take part in a questionnaire to feedback views and comments on the films and future programme planning.These comments have informed the 2023 selection of films.

For the year ending 31 May 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

    Other accounting policies

    Stocks: Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving itemsTaxation: Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognisable in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date
