FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2022 |
1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
PCL (London) Limited is a |
2. | STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE |
3. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Critical accounting judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty |
In the application of the company's accounting policies, the director is required to make judgments, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates. |
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised if the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods if the revision affects both current and future periods. |
The director does not consider there are any critical judgments or sources of estimation uncertainty requiring disclosure beyond the accounting policies listed below. |
Turnover |
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. |
Financial instruments |
Basic financial instruments are recognised at amortised cost except for investments in non-convertible preference and non-puttable ordinary shares which are measured at fair value, with changes recognised in profit or loss. Derivative financial instruments are initially recorded at cost and thereafter at fair value with changes recognised in profit or loss. |
Taxation |
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Profit and Loss Account, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. |
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. |

Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits |
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate. |
Fixed assets |
Fixed assets are initially recorded at cost, and subsequently stated at cost less any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. |
Depreciation |
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off the cost less estimated residual value of each asset over its estimated useful life |
Plant and machinery - 25% reducing balance |
Furniture and fixtures - 25% reducing balance |
Government grants |
Government grants are not recognised until there is reasonable assurance that the company will comply with the conditions attaching to them and that the grants will be received. Government grants are recognised in profit or loss on a systematic basis over the periods in which the company recognises as expenses the related costs for which the grants are intended to compensate. Government grants that are receivable as compensation for expenses or losses already incurred or for the purpose of giving immediate financial support to the company with no future related costs are recognised in profit or loss in the period in which they become receivable. |
Going concern |
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis on the basis of continued support from its finance providers and that the company expects to be profitable in the future. |
