COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

JNC FITNESS CIC

Year Ending: 31 December 2022

Company activities and impact

We commenced this journey as we knew how much keeping ourselves fit helped us physically as well as mentally, as a team we felt as though the community lacked any sort of community spirit, affordable, fun physical fitness for adults. With it being such a hard period of the unknowing and especially after the catastrophic fire at Grenfell, it just hadn’t been the best of times for the community and we really wanted to help others in the same situation. Through our local council and the peer support programme we came together and were able to deliver fitness classes and moral support to the local communities. With the help of the peer support project we have been able to deliver a various number of classes over the year on a weekly basis, these consist of booty bands, circuit training, boxing, stretch & mobility, one on one training which can be altered depending on the individuals circumstance as well as women only classes. With this support we were able to take the classes indoors, incorporate and improve sessions every quarter with new gym equipment and incentives for participants. We promote a healthy lifestyle providing a service to our local community for those whom may be affecting by visual and non-visual disabilities, the fire as mentioned and lastly the cost of living. At JNC we are able to provide affordable, non- contracted pay as you go service to participants giving them the option, which has lead us to have over 100 users in the last year.Overall it is improving our participants physical and mental well-being as well as giving them a better quality of life. It gives them a space to work on themselves as well as a mental escape. We continue to use our social media platforms such as Instagram & Tiktok to reach out to our attendees and local communities, content is created each week we promote mental health Mondays, top tip Tuesdays and foodie Fridays, which has grown incredibly in the last year. Our future plans and requests from the community is to continue with the sessions we already provide at the local centre. We plan to make them more challenging and adjust where required to suit and tailor to each individual’s needs. We have big plans to create a space where we can help the community come out of a depression and into education or employment. We also plan to introduce a meal prep workshop which will help participants prepare and cook healthy food to go along with their exercise and recovery.

Our stakeholders are our participants. We take feedback verbally after each session as well as at the end of each month we distribute suggestion/feedback forms allowing all participants a chance to express what they require from JNC.
