Report on Activities and Impact of Belfast Intercultural Romanian Community CIC in Northern IrelandThe Belfast Intercultural Romanian Community (BIRC) is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that aims to provide support, foster a sense of belonging, and promote cultural exchange among the Romanian community in Northern Ireland. With over 20,000 officially registered Romanian residents in the region and a total of 1.5 million Romanians residing in the UK, BIRC plays a crucial role in bridging cultural gaps and enhancing the well-being of the Romanian diaspora.Activities:1. Language and Integration Workshops:BIRC organizes language classes to help Romanian immigrants improve their English language skills and also a Romanian Saturday School fro the children born outside the borders of Romania and who don;t know the romanian. These workshops contribute to better integration, enabling individuals to communicate effectively and participate in various aspects of Northern Irish society.2. Cultural Events: The organization arranges FREE cultural events that celebrate Romanian traditions, festivals, and cuisine. These events not only offer a sense of familiarity to the community members but also provide an opportunity for the wider Northern Irish population to appreciate and learn about Romanian culture.3. Legal and Social Support: BIRC assists Romanian immigrants in navigating legal processes, such as immigration and employment regulations by working closely with the Romanian Embassy in London, romanian Consulates in Edinburgh, Manchester and Dublin. Additionally, they offer social support through counseling services, helping individuals adapt to their new environment and overcome challenges.4. Education and Skill Enhancement: The organization collaborates with local institutions to provide educational and skill development opportunities. This includes workshops, seminars, and training sessions that empower community members to enhance their career prospects and contribute positively to the local economy.
