Year Ending: 28 February 2023

Company activities and impact

The company runs a network for Black teachers in the UK with a particular emphasis onensuring the professional and personal development of teachers in their network. The networkhas been long-standing and has established good connections with the community. During thefinancial year, 2021-2022:Black teachers who make up 2.5% of the teacher workforce in the UK have had access to a supportive community during the year when things may get overwhelming and difficult for teachers. They have been able to access this mainly through a digital forumTeachers in our network have had access to a monthly newsletter providing them with CPD, training, advice, and more Hosted a huge annual conference attended by over 100 Black teachers Supported over 8 teachers to remain in the profession when things became too difficult Continued the mentorship scheme for Black trainee teachers to support them in their first few years of teaching. Over 15 trainee teachers have been mentored by more experienced/senior teachersWorking with 7 companies to provide consultancy support through their DEI work. This work consisted of website audits, document reviews, and DEI training for staff

Consultation with stakeholders

The company stakeholders are the teachers within the network and those who benefit from the company's serviceAfter events and following on from the completion of the mentorship scheme, we consistently ask for feedback from our stakeholders to ensure we are best serving our community. Our collection of feedback has been able to help us identify that the teachers within our network have benefitted massively from having a safe space to connect, vent, and grow with one another. It has also helped us to recognize a call for a more structured space to connect and a call for more in-person events from our community. Around 70% of our network is based in London and some of the stakeholders have expressed concerns that they would like more support in their local areas, especially the midlands. This network of stakeholders has now moved more widely to local councils and those working with disadvantaged students
