The company works to create habitat and corridors for wildlife through wildlife gardening and has benefitted the community in the following ways: given out free wildflower seeds and gardening advice to local residents; brought together local residents, helping to connect neighbours and to gather around a common cause; delivered an online wildlife gardening talk to a sustainability group; provided information and resources via video and a dedicated website; and created a variety of garden habitats, including wildlife ponds, beetle bank, wildflower meadow, and dead hedge.
Part of the ethos of the company is to recognise Nature as a stakeholder and to include Humans within the definition of Nature. A key component of consultation is through Nature connection activities and listening to and being guided by Nature in the local area. In addition, consultation took place through a wildlife gardening survey to understand the needs of the community and how they would like us to help. Additionally, engagement at the street stand and at our AGM were important consultation activities. These consultations have helped us to focus our activities to producing resources and guides and social media posts that address the needs that were identified.
