Move Dance Feel is dedicated to promoting the health benefits of dance for women living with and beyond cancer. In this financial year the company delivered Dance in Cancer Care Introductory Training (3 times) to 50 trainees, reaching professionals working in both the health and the arts sectors (nationally and internationally). Many of the trainees have built on their learning, initiating projects for people affected by cancer. We have initiated a Dance in Cancer Care Network, uniting over 75 people. For our cancer community we have continued to deliver Move Dance Feel Online - supporting over 300 women through 60 virtual dance sessions. The sessions enhance participants' physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing. We also offered 10 days of in person activity, and presented our findings at an event with the Royal Academy of Dance on World Cancer Day. We offered 2 Artist Training Days, and supported 3 emerging artists through mentoring. We grew our social media following by 400 people - raising more awareness of the benefits of dance in this context.
Company stakeholders include Move Dance Feel participants (women affected by cancer), training attendees, artists, researchers, and our Advisory Group. We consult with participants of Move Dance Feel via email communications and discussions via Zoom, as well as via formal surveys and feedback forms. Our work evolves in consultation with our community, specifically in consultation with our Participant Panel, which comprises 15 women affected by cancer. Feedback this year was that our community would like more in person activity in 23/24, so we are working to fundraise for it. Training attendees feedback via surveys and email, and we have received a very good response rate which highlights the effectiveness of our programme. 93% of attendees report 5 out of 5 when indicating how inspiring the training was.We meet with our Advisory Group 4 times a year. They offer strategic advice and guidance, and collectively we agree on priorities, actions and programming decisions.
One of the company Directors, Emily Jenkins, received payment for work she delivered for Move Dance Feel. Between April 2022 and March 2023 Emily Jenkins received £l6400 for artistic delivery, project management and administration, programme development, mentoring, marketing and communications, evaluation, training delivery.
