COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LEARN/ LIVE/ LOVE FOOD COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 14195193 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2023

Company activities and impact

The company has offered a one to one service for families with children who are struggling to eat healthily. A nutritionist has worked with over 30 families in clinics to offer a bespoke nutritional plan for them and giving ongoing support. It has also provided advice and workshops within peer group sessions for people with chronic illnesses. Family cooking sessions have also been delivered within the community where nutritionally good food is cooked and eaten, all free of charge to the members of the community. Tips to cook on a budget and quickly were offered to allow good nutrition to be taken into the community and homes.

Consultation with stakeholders

The community members have been asked what their needs are. For example, in the clinics it became clear that confidence and practical skills were affecting the quality of nutrition in their homes. Time, cost and confidence were low and people were too busy to cook family meals due to commitments. They were asked if they would be interested in cooking sessions and these have been instigated. Feedback was requested during and after the sessions and menus were added accordingly. The peer sessions were led by the community members. Workshops were delivered on topics that they were interested in. The local council is involved with the sessions too and have commissioned services for the community and so feedback is given to them regularly.

Directors' remuneration

Helen Dodd has been paid to provide nutrition sessions as per funding terms from Doncaster Council. She is paid £35 per hour for any 1-1 clinics and community workshops. She has been paid £50 per hour for the peer support sessions which also has been paid through Be Well Doncaster (Council). Further information shown in accounts.
