Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 30 June 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

Company activities and impact

Early Years Cocoon C.I.C offers a range of primary and secondary services to support families in Dagenham. Our primary services consist of four weekly "stay and play" group sessions, which take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. These sessions are hosted at three localvenues in Dagenham:(1) Dagenham Library (2) Kingsley Hall Church (3) Hatfield Community Centre.Each session typically accommodates 25-30 families and lasts for approximately two hours. These sessions are provided free of charge and are aimed at children up to 5 years of age. They offer a variety of engaging activities, including:(1) Child-Led Play: A chance for children to explore a diverse range of resources.(2) Arts and Crafts: Creative activities to foster artisticexpression.(3) Singing: Group sing-alongs for musical enjoyment (4) Movement: Physical activities for children to stay active. (5) Story-Time:Interactive storytelling sessions.Additionally, we regularly book external specialists and artists to deliver music performances, workshops, and other entertainment, furtherenhancing the quality and variety of our sessions.As part of our secondary services, we offer a variety of additional support, services and events, including:Ad-Hoc Events: We organise events to celebrate and raise awareness on various topics, such as LGBTQ+, Women, Mental Health, Children'sDay, Christmas, and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Additionally, we conduct a series of four swap events, where familiescan exchange toys and clothes.Additional Regular Services: Our ongoing services include the following weekly sessions: (1) Family Playgroup for Children Under 3 (2) Yoga forAdults (3) Yoga for Children (4) Outdoors Learning & Forest SchoolInformation Sharing: We are committed to sharing valuable information with the families we serve through various activities. (1) ParentingBooklet: We produce parenting booklets that feature contributions from local families and organisations. These booklets cover a wide rangeof topics relevant to families and include information about available services. Our parenting booklet is currently in its 3rd edition. (2)Signposting to Support Services: We assist families in accessing additional support services, including housing, benefits, SEND support, and NHS services, among others. (3) Educational and Parenting Resources: We carefully select and share educational and parenting resources based on the specific needs of our families. This is done through our WhatsApp group, ensuring that families have access to valuable information and resources.

All stakeholders are consulted at regular meetings on any comments regarding changes of how the CIC should continue are actioned accordingly
