The community has benefitted by being at the same level of understanding about local events and projects. Local organisations often work in pockets meaning that the information conveyed only reaches a specific audience. Through our company and website we have been able to provide information to the public the way it should be delivered so that everyone has the same level of context and will know what is happening in their community. This is also done through a community newsletter that contains information from local businesses, Registered Social Landlords, Police, Council, Community Groups and charities that operate in the area. There are over 200 local businesses featured on our website and a large number do not yet have a digital presence. Through our website we are able to provide them with a digital avenue to communicate with existing and new customers as well as those who are new to the area. This benefits the businesses with more exposure and higher income as a direct result. As well as ensuring that the local residents are aware of exactly what is on their doorstep. In the year there was work being undertaken for a multi-agency masterplan project and Pill Connects made sure that the community are kept informed of all the big decisions taking place. It also ensured that the community knew of all opportunities where they can be involved in the decision making process. The website provided a communication channel between the agencies and the community, this benefitted the community as their comments and queries were taken into consideration before any big decisions were taken and provided live updates on the master planning project.
Through the Pillgwenlly Masterplan consultation we were able to speak to residents and business owners about how they website could improve to suit their needs. Majority agreed that they liked the simple layout that was easy to understand and navigate. Some members of the community asked for publication such as our newsletter to be printed in different languages as the community is incredibly diverse, we took these comments on board and looked at a possible translation service. The consultation took place on multiple occasions in multiple venues in the area with a range of demographics.
