Company activities and impact

West Lothian Chinese Community hub is an organization dedicated to promoting the development of the Chinese community. During this financial year, we’ve offer a variety of activities and services, including the Adult Chinese Language Club (for ages 18 and above) and the Children and Youth Chinese Language Club (for ages 3 to 18), welcoming members of all ages. The Adult Chinese Language Club helps adults learn the Chinese language, while the Children and Youth Chinese Language Club provides a learning and communication platform for young people in the specified age range. In addition, we have the Asian Culture Club, which introduces Asian culture to community members and promotes multicultural understanding. Furthermore, our Asian Cooking Club offers opportunities to learn about Asian cuisine, from the cooking process to the cultural significance behind it.Our main focus is to help the Chinese community integrate better into the local mainstream community and facilitate community harmony. We provide a comprehensive understanding of Asian culture to the local mainstream society, and foster an appreciation for the cultural similarities and unique characteristics of the people in the Asian region.

Consultation with stakeholders

In terms of stakeholders, the West Lothian Chinese Community Hub primarily serves the Asian residents of West Lothian, as well as the local community members who engage with our activities and services. Additionally, the Hub aims to collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and government agencies to promote cultural integration and support the needs of the community.Regarding consultation with stakeholders, the Hub has actively engaged with the Asian residents and the local community through various channels. We conduct regular meetings and surveys to gather feedback and suggestions on our services and activities. The Hub also maintains open communication channels, such as social media platforms and email, to ensure that stakeholders can easily reach out with their concerns or ideas. In response to the feedback received from consultations, the Hub has taken several actions. We have expanded our services to include Chinese language classes in Mandarin and Cantonese, as well as Asian cultural activities, to promote cultural exchange and understanding between the Chinese community and the local community. Additionally, the establishment of the "Asian background Special Needs Support Group" demonstrates our commitment to addressing the specific needs of Asian families with special needs children and helping them overcome language and cultural barriers. It is worth noting that the West Lothian Chinese Community Hub is still a relatively new organization, established in 2020, and its consultative processes are ongoing.
