Goofus Theatre continues to create and perform puppetry, clown & mask theatre to audiences who would otherwise not get to experience theatre. This includes people living with dementia and/or at risk of social isolation, children with additional needs and their families, refugee and asylum seekers and families on low income. We take theatre to non-typical spaces to make it more accessible to our audiences who cannot access typical theatre spaces. This includes care homes, hospitals, community spaces, special needs schools, libraries, museums and studio theatre spaces. We work with regional theatre spaces to take theatre into the community through local festivals and encourage a more diverse range of audiences to visit typical theatre spaces.
We work with a number of organisations who we consult with, receive advice & funding. This includes health care organisations such as Dementia United, Northern Care Alliance & Age UK; Charities such as The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust & Rossendale Beacon Dementia & Well-being.In response to our consultations we are creating more work with and for people living with dementia so we can continue to visit the many care homes, hospitals & community spaces. From this work we are also continuing to research and work with organisations who support children with additional needs to create sensory theatre in accessible spaces.
