COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

261 FEARLESS CLUB UNITED KINGDOM CIC

Company Number: 11009690 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2023

Company activities and impact

During the year October 2022 to 2023, our CIC has continued in its mission to use running as the vehicle to unite and empower women in the UK and help them to lead healthy, active and fulfilled lives despite the challenges of the cost of living crisis. Our work has been varied and benefitted the community in the following ways:Our current running clubs operate in Greenwich, Bicester, Burwell, Lancaster, Lune Valley, Newcastle and Teesdale so we are reaching women over a large geographical area. Our CIC takes on the administration and maintenance of club affairs including membership, fees, and renewals to ensure the clubs run smoothly. We held a Coach Refresher on 19th/20th November 2022. All active coaches were invited to share a weekend of learning to improve their coaching skills and support them in their volunteer role. We focused on self-esteem as well as running technique. All clubs continue to offer one hour per week of pressure-free, non-competitive, fun, running-based exercise. The particular focus is on helping inactive women become active and in helping to maintain motivation in those who are already active. The role of the CIC was to keep up with government, sporting body and local guidelines. To keep coaches informed of these. To set up protocols for clubs to operate safely including information sheets for coaches and members, risk assessment forms and booking systems. We held coaches meetings where necessary. We communicated directly with members via a newsletter. We offer ongoing support to all of our coaches. Not only with the practical and administrative tasks of their clubs but with the emotional demands of managing a successful group. We do this through regular in-person or online meetings, phone calls and emails. This may be in a group format or one to one if required. We also provide them with branded kit and any equipment needed to carry out their roles. Through ensuring the education of our coaches we can make sure that women are exercising in a safe, healthy manner that will help them to avoid injuries and be active throughout their lives. 261 Fearless Inc offers ongoing coach education and our CIC role is to disseminate information about learning opportunities and encourage and ensure attendance. We provide low cost physical activity to women in the communities surrounding our clubs. £2 per week or £40 per annum. We want to remove finance as a barrier to participation and will subsidise members’ fees where appropriate. We also access grants for women who wish to train as coaches but are unable to pay the course fee.The social and educational events we usually undertake are slowly returning after the pandemic and as women feel more confident to meet indoors. In September 2024, many of our coaches joined other 261 coaches from around the world in London for the coaches' summit. It was lovely to host our international colleagues.Through our activities and despite the challenges we have faced, we feel we have positively contributed to the health and wellbeing of our coaches and club members.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are the coaches who lead our running club sessions and the members of those clubs who come from the communities surrounding each club. We have carried out the following feedback exercises:Feedback discussion with coaches during ‘coach calls’ and coach refreshersNew member surveys completed to gather information about the reasons for joining to help us target our outreachMember feedback requested and received Quarterly newsletters are now sent out to all members, they are always asked for their feedback and ideas. Members are also encouraged to give us feedback when they receive their annual membership letter. We have taken the following actions:As Club Directors we fed back our coaches' views on the 261 Fearless ongoing coach education programme to allow for this to be improved. We have fully moved to online membership registration and member T-shirts are being posted directly to members. New member surveys show women join us for a large number of reasons including to get fit, meet other women and become healthier. We continue to gather this information and will look at ways to use it to enable us to target new members and women who would benefit from being active
