Company activities and impact

Activities carried out during the financial year to support women in grassroots music and the performing arts included the following:- A website and series of social media sites were set up to promote and raise awareness of women in the arts. - A launch event at the Sub Rooms in Stroud was organised in March 2022 which included an arts exhibition, busking event and an evening concert featuring female-fronted bands.- A fundraising kickstarter was successfully run with merchandise promoting women in music and the Where Art the Women? brand.- Female artists were interviewed about their experiences within the music and arts industry and put together in a feature length film which was played at the launch event.- A summer festival event was successfully run with a similar approach to the launch event. The plan was to run further events in the Autumn, however this idea had to be postponed due to low advance ticket sales and a lack of success in obtaining further funding for the events.

Consultation with stakeholders

Consultation with stakeholders included a number of female performing artists alongside those who promote and book artists for festivals and events.- A series of fun but informative podcasts featuring a variety of women in music as guests were produced and aired during the year. This not only informed our perception of the challenges these women face in the arts, but also helped to communicate those challenges to others.- We had conversations with a number of venue and festival organisers about looking at the gender balance of the artists they book. As a result, some of these organisers added consideration of this balance to the booking criteria and made the change to ensure a greater number of female artists were included in their lineups.

Directors' remuneration

The total value of Directors' Remuneration was £900.
