Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 March 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net ofdiscounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods,donations and grant income. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates andother similar allowances.Sale of goodsTurnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards ofownership of the goods has transferred to the buyer. This is usually at the point that thecustomer has signed for the delivery of the goods.Grant incomeGrant income is recognised when the company has entitlement to the funds, any futureperformance conditions attached to the item(s) of income have been met, it is probable thatthe income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

    Other accounting policies

    Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value aftermaking due allowance for obsolete and slow-moving stocks. Cost includes all direct costs andan appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads. Work-in-progress is reflected in theaccounts on a contract by contract basis by recording turnover and related costs as contractactivity progresses.

Company activities and impact

Foodness CIC creates and sells Refugee Community Kitchen (RCK) merchandise in order to raise much needed money for the charity. Foodness CIC also supplies staff to undertake work that RCK needs doing to achieve its charitable goals. Foodness has raised £46,786 worth of goods and services for RCK in during this financial year, all of which has been used to further the charities goals. As a result of the work undertaken by Foodness, RCK have managed to serve 400,000+ meals to those in food poverty in the UK and France.
