Balance sheet statements

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover represents the value, net of VAT and discounts, of goods provided to customers and work carried out in respect ofservices provided to customers.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over the estimated useful lives:Plant and machinery 25% straight lineComputer equipment 33% straight line

Company activities and impact

Barod CIC continues to trade offering training and consultancy in accessible information and good practice in engagement and coproduction of services. Barod works in partnership with two self advocacy groups to produce accessible information under the name Planet Easy Read. We are leading a project to develop apps for using public transport and health passports for people with learning disabilities. We have started a research project called ‘Humanising Healthcare’ with Prof Dan Goodley in Sheffield University. We are developing our research capacity, reviewing academic book chapters and have are involved in 3 academic publications. The client base is still in the main public sector organisations in Wales. We have developed engagement work to ensure people have a voice and services are coproduced in Wales. These activities have resulted in Barod directly employing nine adults with learning disabilities.Barod members have been active in self advocacy in Wales.Two members of staff with learning disabilities have moved on to other employment.

Consultation with stakeholders

Barod CIC is governed by a board of Directors elected from our membership. This year our board included 3 members with learning disabilities. Our members meet regularly to support Barod’s development. The membership are formed by stakeholders in the work and future development of the company. Barod works to employ and work with people with a learning disability in all areas of our work.All our work has involved people with learning disabilities delivering services, giving their lived experience a voice in our work.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £28,620.There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
