Offshoots have continued to deliver our main Circle Of Light Youth Music programme which attracted 2 years funding and finishes the current funding in May 2023. We produced our 3rd Circle Of Light album with 30+ young people addressing issues around mental health through music. The album was launched at a Nottingham City Centre venue on World Mental Health Day.This financial year we have secured the following PHT & Awards for All - Funded the Between You & Me podcast for young people 18-25 who are experiencing health inequalities and issues with mental health to raise awareness to others who maybe suffering in silence. Sports England for communities to become active again after the various lockdowns - which has enabled Offshoots to support several other business due to the purchase of dance mirrors to deliver dance and yoga workshops and to rent out spaces for other groups to do the same. Art Council England project grants - mental health and nature project. Worked with a range of young people aged 9 - 10 year olds who had experienced lockdown in high rise flats. They were taken to Sherwood Forest and worked with specialist practitioners and new music technology to engage with nature in a creative way . A film was made about the process and was screened at Broadway Cinema as part of the Nottingham Science & Curiosity festival Peoples Health Trust funding allowed us to produce podcasts interviewing women participants on our partner company’s (Sugar Stealers CIC) multi-disciplinary Arts workshops, again addressing issues around anxiety, loneliness and other mental heath issues for women and non-binary people of all ages.
Our stakeholders and community members are people from a range of communities in Nottingham. As we are based in Nottingham City Centre we are ideally situated to support people of all ages and genders from multi ethnicity backgrounds from many areas surrounding the city. The good transport links facilitates engagement. Participants are also consulted at all stages of completing funding application which are informed by identified needs. The young people that participate in the Circle Of Light programme are consulted with throughout to decide on the direction of the project and album.
