UK Community Works operates across England and Wales in particular, supporting local people to accelerate the process of building stronger and more sustainable local communities and economiesTo this end our activities have been particularly focused on South-West, South East and East of England. In this financial year we have:- - continued our activities in building stronger local energy and low carbon housing markets in these areas - aiming to retain a much higher proportion of the value generated in the local energy and housing markets within the local economy - encouraged greater local ownership of energy and housing assets and control of energy and housing activities through social enterprise - we have also been developing our activities in low emission vehicles and fuelling infrastructure, and low carbon digital/smart communitiesSpecific examples of our activities, development work and interventions in these areasInclude:- Developing Net Zero carbon affordable housing developments in Essex, Hants, Herts and Kent. Engagement with multiple councils in Essex, Herts, Cambs, Suffolk and Kent to plan net-zero carbon affordable housing developments and community renewables. Smart/digital community pilot projects with Suffolk CC and Essex CC. Zero carbon plans with Herts LEP and Essex CC and businesses in two of largest industrial estate in Herts and Essex.
