MoreSureFdn was set up in June 2020 as a community learning micro business for children and adult learners lacking essential core skills in literacy and numeracy with the expectation that learning would take place at public venues, such as community centers, or in the similar face to face settings. In time the plan was to establish partnerships with local schools and charitable institutions supporting local families in the lower socio-economic bracket.COVID lockdown put plans on hold as community venues shut down and the company remained dormant until January 2021 when I made the decision to use the New Year to trial the business with just two clients by going online: a male with learning disabilities and a young person in Y8 with processing difficulties. I did not need to advertise the service as I was approached directly for help with numeracy and literacy. The male with learning disabilities enjoyed the sessions and looked forward to them and made appreciable progress; I believe it provided consistency and structure for him; the younger male in year 8 benefited from the bespoke nature of the 1 to 1 lesson given at a pace which enabled progress to be made and mitigated against loss learning during two separate lockdowns.
There was only 1 meeting with 1 stakeholder in August last year who will be involved in providing tuition and some business support to the company when it formally opens in the community. Louis Searchwell is a maths tutor and is employed so most of his input will be casual/part time. We continue to liaise via email.
