In the last financial year, we have run bi-weekly volunteer sessions, open to any member of our community, together we share skills in growing fruit and veg and other outdoor skills. We provide a valuable green space and opportunity for our community to engage with nature in a sustained, enriching, and appropriate way. We build community connection through shared meals at our volunteer sessions, as well as hosting regular community meals, and providing home-cooked, healthy, free food for attendees. We estimate that around 50 people took part in our volunteer sessions this financial year. Benefiting from the many positive health effects of gardening, being outdoors, and building social connections. With our volunteers' invaluable help, we grew to produce to run a veg-box scheme, providing around 30 households with fresh, sustainably grown, affordable produce throughout the growing season, June-Oct.Another 50 participants gained nature-based skills in our workshops held throughout the year on subjects such as; basketry, beekeeping, mushroom growing, and ikebana. We've provided regular, rewarding employment to 4 people. And another business has received, low-cost space hire from us to help it become established and employ one more individual.
