Company activities and impact

As a CIC, in our first year, we conducted several projects which set out to engage, educate and reach out to demographics within our local area, primarily Nottingham. We installed ''Free Seed Stands'' which were located at various locations in our City Centre, these included free vegetable, herb and locally collected wildflower seeds. We provided QR codes which linked to an online info page which we had produced, providing knowledge and information on best practices when using the seeds we had provided. We ran free to access ''Seed Bomb Making Workshops'', educating participants as to how to source the materials and then make their own wildflower seed bombs. Alongside this educating participants as to how to go about using them, in turn supporting the spreading of native wildflowers within our city.We utilised flower, vegetable and herb plug plants which were destined to be wasted from nurseries and garden centres, bringing them to areas of the city with high footfall, and re-distributing them completely free of charge, offering educational advice and information on how to best use the plants we'd given. We utilised waste wooden troughs from British Gypsum, transforming them into planters filled with flowers and shrubs. We delivered these completely free of charge to shops, businesses and households across our city.

Consultation with stakeholders

We consider our stakeholders to be local residents of Nottingham.Whilst delivering our projects across the city, those who engaged or participated were informally consulted as to what knowledge or information they felt would be of benefit, what hurdles they perhaps faced in carrying out growing or green activities and what they would like to see in regards to new green and growing spaces within our city.We have utilised this feedback in order to better plan our projects, engagement activities for next year, and to better inform our plans for when working towards creating new green and growing spaces in Nottingham.
