Company activities and impact

Renegade Theatre Community Interest Company run free performing arts and heritage projects for , with and about the diverse North Kensington Community. We run a weekly Kids Drama Club from Venture Community Association for local children aged 4-11 as well as a weekly adult community Drama Workshop programme for. We work with guest artists to create films, plays, poems, songs, dances and movement pieces with our participants using their own ideas and often their own words. We often use local history and themes as inspiration for our artistic work. We use drama, arts and heritage as a tool for our participants to channel difficult emotions into artistry and self-expression. Two of our films were screened at The National Theatre this year and we are developing a relationship with them and other theatres. We hope to grow our company and increase our activities next year to include teenage participants.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Directors of Renegade Theatre Community Interest Company and its workers all live in or have strong links to North Kensington. Our participants are our neighbours. All of the activities we run are as a result of residents asking us to provide them and are designed and developed with participant input and feedback all the way along. We talk with our participants about what they want to do each term and provide a suitable guest artist to lead the project. The creative process we use is highly collaborative. The ideas and dialogue for the scripts our participants perform for film or theatre come from them.
