Diamond you projects worked alongside aspire boxing to run and organise an event focused around preventing exploitation and helping young vulnerable people within the care system and situations that are putting them into risk of exploitation. The event was a full day event that involved many care workers and people responsible for the wellbeing of vulnerable youths both in and surrounding areas of South Yorkshire. We were able to educate and raise awareness within the event and was able to share the stage with successful people with lived experience at the forefront of gang crime prevention, abuse within the care system and professionals within the police and the social services. The day was able to expand peoples knowledge and create systems change by presenting the problems that needed to be addressed around exploitation, grooming, human trafficking, gang and knife crime prevention and the care system. This has continued our work with Sheffield council along with aspire boxing club who were the main event organisers and have asked us to continue doing events with them in the 2023.We joined forced with another organisation called Project rescue children to help raise money and expand our work of exploitation prevention internationally to Gambia. We will be working alongside the authorities and help to progress with the rescue centre PRC have already built that is active within the Gambian community rescuing children from people who commit human rights abuses. The school will consist of three class rooms with open air windows, a girls and boys toilet block separate from the school building. We will drill a new fresh water bore hole within the school perimeter, as well as fix and connect electricity with three solar panels on the school roof. When the school is built, we will be delivering our workshops to the young people in Gambia to make them less of a target to child trafficking and exploitation. Our aim is to have raised the funds by numerous fundraising avenues and to have the school built by 2024.DYP worked alongside NCS as part of a 4-week programme revolved around awareness and prevention of sexual assault, we participated at the end of the programming by running a workshop with a group of young ladies ages 14-16. We discussed about ways society views sexual assault, what causes sexual assault, the legality behind it when it happens, along with how it could be prevented. The young ladies were very engaged and assertive throughout the whole workshop, they had picked this subject themselves to focus on so they were very focus driven and found their own solutions of how to prevent sexual assault from continuing and ensuring they played a part in this happening so the next generation could be safer. The organisation joined forces with the safeguarding alliance and Della shaw to lobby the government to have Dellas Law passed, dellas law is a piece of legislation to prevent sex offenders from changing their name. DYP have been part of pushing this through and attending the houses of parliament along with raising awareness nationally by using as many platforms as possible. We see this as a way to protect potential victims from perpetrators will re-offend by using the system to change their name. We were able to meet with several MPs including the face of the campaign Sarah Champion who is the MP of Rotherham. This is something that will be ongoing. As an organisation we want to be part of the systems change to protect people from future sexual abuse of any kind and feel that dellas law would be a step in the right direction.Lastly, we have been able to have follow up sessions with our Mentee that we were mentoring with Sheffield council through 2021-2022, we found it extremely beneficial to the young persons mental wellbeing and progression to move forward with being able to move more into adulthood. We were able to direct our young person into how to be more equipped and setting a plan for how they want to move forward with education and achieving what they wanted in their near future. Giving them both financial and emotional education and sign posts to move forward with. This will help Olivia with more stability and direction moving forward. We aim to be keeping up the follow up sessions every 2 months for the rest of 2023.
