Notes to the Financial Statements
for the Year Ended 31 March 2023

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

Gregory Plumbing & Heating Limited is a private company, limited by shares , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Turnover
Turnover represents the total invoice value, excluding value added tax, of sales made during the year and derives from the provision of labour and goods falling within the company's ordinary activities. Turnover is recognised at the point of invoice.

Goodwill
Goodwill, being the amount paid in connection with the acquisition of a business in 2006, is being amortised evenly over its estimated useful life of ten years.

Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.

Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
Plant and machinery - 33.3% Straight Line
Motor vehicles - 25% Straight Line

Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost less residual value of each asset over its expected useful life, as follows:

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

Work in progress is valued at the sale value of work done, yet to be invoiced.

Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Assets obtained under hire purchase contracts and finance leases are capitalised as tangible assets and depreciated over the shorter of the lease term and their useful lives. Obligations under such agreements are included in creditors net of the finance charge allocated to future periods. The finance element of the rental payment is charged to the profit and loss account so as to produce constant periodic rates of charge on the net obligations outstanding in each period.

Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
