The Urban Mindfulness Foundation (UMF) provide structured Educational Mindfulness Trainings focused on cultivating Justice, Equity, Equality Diversity and Inclusion for a more balanced society that we call JEDI Work!Our MissionTo deliver culturally informed prosocial mindfulness trainings, supervision, consultancy and drop in sessions grounded in the alleviation of identity based harm and social and environmental injustice. Our visionTo embrace our differences and connect through collective awareness and consciousness, we believe is required to reimagine for a sustainable future and humanity.MethodologyWe achieve our mission and vision by combining a unique blend of history, culture, contemporary psychology, world philosophy, theory and practices from meditative traditions that broaden our perspectives, understanding and connection through education and collaborative mindfulness based interventions.General Description of the Company’s Activities and Impact- Following successful funding awarded to the Urban Mindfulness Foundation as part of a collaboration, the Dismantling Racism & Social Inequalities Collectively (DRASIC) project was planned and created.- Delivery of 2 x Online Inclusive Interracial sessions as part of the Dismantling Racism & Social Inequalities Collectively (DRASIC) project- As part of the award funded for the DRASIC project we were able to update The Urban Mindfulness Foundation Website, create an online learning platform, forum and online groups- Together we delivered online delivery of 4 x 8 session courses of Mindfulness Based Inclusion Training focused on Dismantling Racism & Social Inequalities Collectively to approximately 40 Black, Asian and People of Colour participants- Project planning for the Collaborative delivery of the Black, Asian and People of Colour (BAPOC) Symposium- Awarded funding to deliver the Collaborative Online BAPOC symposium- Successful Delivery of the 2 x day BAPOC symposium to over 100 people inclusive of keynote speakers, Professor Kehinde Andrews, Dr Cathy-Mae Karelse, Shamash Alidina and panel discussions- The Urban Mindfulness Foundation founders were awarded runners up prize for the Mindfulness Innovation Awards for the creation of The Mindfulness Based Inclusion Training Course. This was awarded in association with The Mindfulness Initiative & The Hart Knowe Trust- Participation in the Mindfulness Initiative’s Innovation Winners Online Event - Online Social Mindfulness Session for Social Work MSc and Undergraduate students at the University of Edinburgh with over 20 students attending- Submission of a funding tender in association with East London Foundation Trust and Compass Wellbeing for BAPOC Young People aged between 16-25 years old during 2023-2024- Awarded funding for 2023-2024 to deliver a Mindfulness Based project for BAPOC Young People aged between 16-25 years old during 2023-2024- Co-Authored a paper and resource document, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Our Time: A Curriculum that is up to the Task, that was published and trending in Sage Journals- Social media content on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and youtube to increase connection, perspectives and accessibilityNext stepsWe endeavour to continue to review, revise and develop our services to ensure those that we reach, serve and work with can connect, learn and practice in ways that continue increasing accessibility and prosocial change across generations.
