COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ELECTRIC VEHICLE ASSOCIATION NORTHERN IRELAND CIC

Company Number: NI677982 (Northern Ireland)

Year Ending: 31 March 2023

Company activities and impact

In this second year of our Association, we have expanded our committee team and held regular monthly meetings. We continue to lobby on behalf of EV drivers here and we have grown our private and corporate member numbers as well as our social media following and reach. We have met with government departments, local authorities and many other stakeholders (some listed below). We continue our role on Northern Ireland’s EV Task Force and we help validate the charger statistics used by the DfT.While Northern Ireland is still the least prepared region of the UK in regards to the transition to electric vehicles, it must be noted that DC rapid charger numbers doubled in the final quarter of 2022, benefitting our members. Other benefits of our lobbying are the seeing the incumbent operator agree to turn on pay-to-charge, which will increase the availability of chargers andremoving a perceived barrier to entry for other CPOs who were reluctant to try and compete with a free network.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have attended over 130 meetings in this financial year and consulted a multitude of stakeholders including our members, DfI, DfE, the DNO, TSO, ICPs, Charge Point Operators, FSB, CBI, Car Dealerships, Energy Suppliers, the Utility regulator, Local Airport, Councils, Politicians, the Media and others. Our broad range of stakeholder meetings provides a unique overview of the issues here. The outcome of these consultations continues to be used to find the root causes of the issues that see Northern Ireland so poorly prepared. Our ongoing engagement via the EV Task Force and directly with Executive departments feeds back these learnings while calling for change.
