Happy Minds offers both group and 1:1 sessions to support kids and teenagers in the local area with their mental health. The criteria to obtain support from the NHS has become extremely difficult due to the current system being so stretched – this continues to be consistently higher since COVID. Many parents are left with little support in the early and mid to late stages of mental health issues.Happy Minds has offered mainly 1:1 sessions this financial year within our therapist roles. We have started speaking to schools again about group sessions but we appreciate budgets are stretched. We are also looking into training as this is something we have been advised would be helpful – it would also mean a greater number of students will be able to receive the kind of support that we offer. We continue to be passionate about working with kids and assisting them with their mental health and keen to get back to face to face group sessions.
The company’s stakeholders and Directors are residents in Shoreham-by-Sea. They are both therapists who came together to create Happy Minds to help with the current shortage of mental health support for children, mainly due to the high demands on the services. The Directors work closely together and are keen to be able to offer a group setting so that we canreach a higher volume of children at a lower cost. The sessions are also good for general prevention which is something the Directors are passionate about and would like to work closely with local schools to expand this area.
