Company activities and impact

Advantage is supporting key NHS priorities around CYP mental health: - Anchor network development - partnering NHS with CCOs - Support tackling and reducing Health Inequalities via Core20+5 and existing CCO out-reach in to underserved communities- Increasing Equal Access with Better Experiences and Outcomes for young people- Capacity building and workforce development The programmeA collaborative approach is key to the success of this programme and is embedded throughout. The delivery is undertaken in partnership between each CCO and their local NHS CAMHS team, with a designated Advantage Regional Project & Performance Manager providing on-going support. The programme provides each young person with one hour of one-to-one mentoring each week for up to 6 months. Sessions are young person focused to achieve their goal-based outcomes and hosted at their football club’s inspirational environments that young people feel comfortable in. CCO mentors delivering the programme use youth work principles and approaches and are representative of local community and understand local need, pressures and barriers allowing for the young person to feel more relaxed and able to relate quicker and build trust.Alongside this, CAMHS clinicians support with referrals, assessments and weekly supervision to the CCO mentors to improve practice and keep a connection across caseloads. Referrals onto the programme are for young people with low-moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing support needs and have two clear paths:- CAMHS waiting list - CCO programmes (this route supports tackling and reducing Health Inequalities via Core20+5) Over the financial year to which this report relates the Advantage programme was delivered across 10 integrated care board locations by 13 football club community organisations.
