Company activities and impact

About:Queer Youth Art Collective (QYAC) is the UK’s only national LGBT youth service working specifically in the arts. We provide a safe place for young LGBT people to breathe a little easier, share experiences, advice, resources and creativity.QYAC hosts free weekly workshops, run by queer artists. We co-curate exhibitions offer mentoring, social space and resources. We are based out of Queer Circle in Greenwich London. All workshops can also be attended on Zoom.Impact:Since 2019 we have 164 workshops and hosted over 2300 attendees. 42 of these events took place in 2023. With 730 attendees during that period. Through this time we have seen several members build friendships, starting groups chats, organising going to shows and nights out. Several members have used the creative skills we have taught in order to establish themselves in the UK art scene. Examples are entering drag king competitions and getting involved with Museum of Transology.Average attendees 15 people per week. The groups online attendance has improved. Sometimes we have up to 30 people in total shared between in person and online.

Consultation with stakeholders

Youth Board:We have established a youth board that meets twice a year to discuss how the terms are going, making requests and providing more direct feedback to our directors. The purpose of this group is to give the group space to hold us more directly accountable.Feedback from workshops:During each Sunday workshop, we make notes of requests and feedback given by members during the day. This comes out of group discussions and 1 on 1 check ins with members.Suggestion box:We also have an anonymous suggestion box where people can leave indirect feedback that is included when we do our team reflections after each term.Feedback form:Once a year we also give members the opportunity to fill out a feedback form, this together with all the previous mention points is then used to help programme the coming year.
