The company runs a range of outdoor activities for the local children and the families of Kirk Hallam, Ilkeston and the wider borough of Erewash, with their 1st outdoor playgroup taking place in April 2021. During the financial year of 2022-2023 they have benefitted the community in the following ways;* Ran weekly, term time pre-school (6 months - 5 years) sessions on 2 days per week. This has particularly benefited those with no access to transport, giving more access to play, learn and socialise for local infants *and their families* Provided pop-up woodland sessions for children up to the age of 11 and their families during school holidays and for special events such as Easter and Halloween, giving local children access to more activities during the school holidays* Worked with funding provider, Active Partners, to provide free family weekend woodland sessions over a 12 week period in order to provide local young people access to physical activity and enrichment in an alternative way to traditional sports for those who don't enjoy team or competitive sport* Developed an allotment plot for use for outdoor play. This has significantly reduced space hire costs so we can continue to be sustainable and invest more into resources and keep our fees as low as possible.* Worked with the local borough council to help fund some site development to make the space suitable for the children to attend.* Provided family outdoor cooking sessions which developed the skills of young people to make healthy, from scratch, cooked meals in a fun setting to inspire them to engage in cooking at home.* Started an outdoor education group for home schooled children (5-14), many who have SEND, giving them a fun and inclusive environment to undertake learning in a child led setting.* Provided volunteering opportunities for local residents which has enabled them to socialise, gain and enhance skills and confidence and has given some of them the tools they need to return to the workplace and seek out new career paths in a child care setting.* Offered outdoor birthday parties with the profit from these benefitting the none profit operations. This has also given more children new and unique party options and is particularly beneficial to those with additional needs who do not enjoy the traditional birthday parties that are based indoors and can be over stimulating for many SEND children. * Provided services to a local primary school to deliver Forest School on site to the whole school over the course of the school year. This has enabled local children access to Forest School and all of the benefits it brings.
