The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 October 2023

Principal activities of the company

The company was created to raise funds for the benefit of the community and specifically to support charities in funding transformational projects.The principal activity to support this is the Savoy Fundraising Dinner held in October each year atthe Savoy Hotel in London. The supporters of The October Club are drawn principallyfrom the financial and banking sectors of the City of London.In the year ended 31 October 2023 the company has supported Schoolreaders CIO, registeredcharity 1159157, which supports young people with their literacy in school.Review of business risks and uncertaintiesThe profit and loss account is set out on page 4 of the financial statements. The company has made neither a profit nor a loss during the period.A risk analysis has been undertaken to ensure that the company is aware of the key risksfacing it. A pro-active approach is taken towards addressing the identified risks throughimprovement strategies

Company activities and impact

In 2023 The October Club CIC raising funds to sponsor a transformational project for Schoolreaders (a registered charity) to expand their volunteer based primary school literacy programme into the North of England.

Consultation with stakeholders

We worked closely with Schoolreaders and the schools they are targeting in the North to ensure the literacy programme was welcome and necessary to benefit the children in the area--improve their reading skills with one on one volunteer tutoring.
