COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

IPAN PERFORMING ARTS NORTH CIC

Company Number: 13479868 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2023

Company activities and impact

In the second year since incorporation, the company continued to spend much of its time developing community-based projects. To improve the company’s local presence and visibility, we concentrated on the creation of our first community-based production, including drawing a performance company from the local area. Our planned production would include both a free workshop and free performance in the centre of Blackburn, targeting those who don’t have regular access to the performing arts. We see this as the first step towards the creation of an extra-curricular performing arts academy for young people, providing free provision for those from under-represented communities and areas of deprivation. The considerable community support for the project was recognised through the receipt of our first Arts Council England grant in June to present our production of Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale.

Consultation with stakeholders

IPAN Performing Arts Stakeholders include residents of Blackburn with Darwen and surrounding areas of East Lancashire and North Manchester. One of the Company Directors is a Blackburn resident of four years, and East Lancashire for over 20 years, and has built up the business model for a Performing Arts company through his work with young people in the area over this time. The company directors have engaged and consulted with partnership organisations in area, including the council-run Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery, One Voice Blackburn, and Bolton Music Service, who are now active partners in our forthcoming project. The company has also started to consult with the public through social media, building larger stakeholder involvement and participation in the area.
