At Haringey Young People Empowered (HYPE), stakeholder consultation is a fundamental aspect of our approach to delivering effective youth work sessions. We understand the importance of involving young people themselves in the decision-making process to ensure that our programs meet their needs and preferences. In our efforts to design and implement specialised activities such as textiles, product customisation, and therapeutic art sessions, we have actively engaged with young people to gather their input and feedback.Young people have been consulted through various means, including , focus groups, and one-on-one conversations, to identify the most suitable formats and approaches for delivering sessions. Their insights have been invaluable in shaping the content, structure, and delivery methods of our programs. Through actively involving them in the planning process, we aim to create sessions that are engaging, relevant, and impactful for the participants. In addition to consulting with young people directly, we have also engaged with established youth workers who play a key role in facilitating our sessions. Their expertise and experience have provided valuable insights into what works best in youth work settings. Thus, we have been able to make informed decisions about session logistics, timing, group sizes, and other factors that contribute to the success of our programs. The feedback received from both young people and youth workers has informed ongoing adjustments and improvements to our sessions. For example, based on their suggestions, we have made changes to session timings and group sizes to better accommodate participants' needs and preferences. We have also introduced peer mentors to the second cohort of sessions, recognising the positive impact they can have on the overall experience and outcomes for participants.Overall, stakeholder consultation is integral to our approach at HYPE, ensuring that our youth work sessions are tailored to the needs and preferences of the young people we serve. By actively involving young people and youth workers in the planning and delivery process, we strive to create inclusive, engaging, and impactful programs that empower young people to thrive and succeed.
