COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

GAY MEN'S HEALTH COLLECTIVE CIC

Company Number: 10404160 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 March 2023

Company activities and impact

GAY MEN'S HEALTH COLLECTIVE delivered its three projects:MEN R USMENRUS.CO.UK informs and supports gay and bisexual men, and men who have sex with men (GBMSM) though this comprehensive health and well-being website divided into six key sections on health, life and well-being issues with resources and links to further information and support. Content increasingly reflects information for the wider LGBT+ community. New content included: BIPOC, pink washing, HIV magazines, cuckooing (and chemsex), what people say (HIV diagnosis), bottoming, mental health apps, overdoses and calling 999, MPOX (Monkeypox). Substantial updates to: prostate cancer, lubricants (for sex), chemsex, and mental health support, getting out and active and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The website's backend was maintained with no major issues. Overall content grew to 285,000+ words, hyperlinks increased to 15,000+ while visitor numbers up on the last reporting period.PIP PACPIP PAC are safer packs for gay men and GBMSM to reduce drug harms and the transmission of blood borne infections including HIV and Hepatitis C. Pack production remained strong overall including our UK distributor as drug services and clients continued to procure harm reduction paraphernalia. However, supply chains, stock purchase, and prices affected by Brexit and COVID pandemic remained challenging. A C5 "Safer" pack for GBMSM (with chemsex harm reduction literature) was successfully piloted at a major London emergency department. Positive findings combined with indicators to show the chemsex landscape in London informed a successful application to deliver a London-wide safer chemsex campaign. (Work started on the campaign during next reporting period). A new and successful collaboration with the London Ambulance Service developed (and delivered) a chemsex harm reduction tool for ambulance crews: a small "SYCU" card with a QR code to a bespoke website with harm reduction, health and mental health support, and services signposting. THREE FLYING PIGLETSTHREE FLYING PIGLETS makes films on gay men's health issues for MENRUS.CO.UK and online distribution, and films for the wider LGBT+ community and allies. It continues to make short films on a budget, developing enduring partnerships and collaborations with like-minded organisations. Output was less prodigious than the previous reporting period. While several harm reduction films were updated, new films included the "Ian Charleson Day Centre" marking 30+ years of person-centred HIV care; "Behind the Lens" for LGBT+ History Month, a showreel of some of films made by volunteers; and a 30-second message from MENRUS.CO.UK volunteers for "Pride 2022". A paid project for a voluntary organisation was eventually delivered but proved immensely problematic with time for filming and postproduction nearly doubling.

Consultation with stakeholders

GAY MEN'S HEALTH COLLECTIVE (GMHC) continued to consult with GBMSM to inform all aspects of its work. Consultation with some stakeholders was challenging. Factors for this included the pall of the COVID pandemic, prevalent home working, and the ongoing crisis in statutory and health services. GMHC's long standing relationships with partners and allies was robust, and chemsex training was delivered to several organisations which generated revenue.
