Our Moving Stories is a community focussed company currently based in Southall and the surrounding areas. We provide Movement and Arts based activities with a focus on accessibility and inclusion, believing that everyone can participate and share creative practice. We registered as a CIC in 2022 and began delivering Mindful Movement classes at the beginning of 2023 for residents of Havelock and Toplocks who had lost similar activities and opportunities to connect with each other due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. These areas are heavily underserved with local amenities and opportunities across contexts. We also began delivering movement sessions on a voluntary basis to the local school Three Bridges Primary, which led to us setting up a regular after school dance club.We have engaged with residents aged 5 - 75 throughout this time, contributing to improved wellbeing and physical fitness.
The company’s stakeholders are residents of Havelock, Toplocks and the larger Southall and Ealing areas. The director has lived on Havelock Road for the last 4 years and through opening up regular conversations and collecting feedback is developing the business model based on the needs of her local community. Funding was received through London Sport for the Mindful Movement activity which predominantly served people with limited mobility or long term health conditions. Regular surveys and feedback was collected from participants of these sessions and it was found that all of the 18 people who had engaged with these sessions attributed positive improvements to their physical or mental wellbeing directly related to the activity provided. We work closely with the newly activated Open Havelock site and Peabody Housing, enabling us to now expand our offering to a wider range of residents.
