Community Partners - new and existing! Oct 2022 - UFC (Urban Forest Collective) returned to Barnood to deliver a series of outdoor nature events for the over 55’s - the Silver Birch group that we set up after lock down. The group has found coming together an enriching experience, learning news skills, meeting new friends. Together we constructed a hedgehog house. In December we joined them for a social outing at Lauderdale House. Jan- March 2023 we set up meetings with existing partners New Art Studio to deliver a series of funded walks with art therapists outside of their studio. We also set up a new partnership Resources for Autism Wolves Lane in Tottenham to offer outdoor opportunities to marginalised or vulnerable people and with community groups. We teamed up with the School of Social Entrepreneurs for training and funding to look at how we might step up our operation for greater impact in the community, with Flourishing Lives to look at ways to develop intergenerational projects, The Scouts to explore new outdoor venues. We also teamed up with Haringey to develop and deliver 3 days of free, funded programme for Wolves Lane around woodworking and maths. We also worked at the Tate’s community garden to support them dig and puddle a pond. March- September - by March we had delivered a series of walks supporting refugees and asylum seekers from New Art Studio feel supported in nature via forest school and art therapy modalities. We continues from April through to September working with our new partners Resources for Autism, set up and deliver weekly walks every Friday to different parks, supported by different activities including learning about nature - e.g bird, plant and tree ID, creating art inspired by nature, well being such as mindful walks and meditation to reflective practice. The series of walks had a significant impact on the group’s connection with nature, independent travel and planning, decreased anxiety, practice in self care, and making new friends.Urban Forest Collective also worked to support delivery of an After School Club in FInsbury park offering art and a vehicle of education about local species and birds on the amber and red list. UFC also enlisted in some training around ADHD and trauma informed design, a course with Thrive in Social and Horticultural Therapy and one on story telling and rewilding the imagination.
