Transit Community Support CIC Annual Report - Year Ending September 2023Executive Summary:Transit Community Support CIC, based in Whitton, Twickenham, has diligently pursued its mission of enhancing the well-being of residents across Richmond and Hounslow Boroughs, as well as London as a whole, throughout the fiscal year ending September 2023. Through strategic partnerships, collaborative initiatives, and targeted projects, we have successfully engaged stakeholders at all levels, bridged skill gaps, and fortified community resilience. This report encapsulates our key activities, achievements, and impacts during this period.Inclusive Well-being Initiatives:Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in our initiatives tailored to enhance the well-being of all residents, irrespective of demographic or social classifications. Situated strategically, our community learning centre serves as a welcoming space for diverse communities, facilitating easy access to our support services.Impact Highlights:Through our various projects and activities, we have positively impacted approximately 1,000 community members both Directly and indirectly across Richmond, Hounslow, and London at large. Major Projects and Events Highlights:During the reporting period, we have successfully implemented the following projects and events , which have had significant impacts on our communities:Caring for Carers Project under the Thriving Communities Fund (Hounslow Borough):Recognizing the invaluable contributions of unpaid carers within our communities, this project aimed to alleviate their burdens and enhance their caregiving experiences. Through a series of free training sessions, carers received essential skills and knowledge tailored to their needs. Topics covered included dementia awareness, moving and handling techniques, and emotional support strategies. Additionally, the project provided a supportive network for carers to share experiences and receive mutual encouragement.Isleworth Community Coronation Children’s Get Together: under the Thriving Communities Fund (Hounslow Borough):This event fostered social connections and provided vital support to residents during the current cost of living crisis. In addition to historical engagement, the event included financial and mental well-being support sessions.In Summary , the children's community get-together at Bridgelink Community Centre in Isleworth was a successful event. It fostered social connections, creativity, and a sense of belonging among children and adults in the local community. The active involvement of the community ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Our appreciation to the Hounslow Thriving Communities Fund for funding the event and the volunteers for offering their time and efforts.GreenPlan Hounslow (Funded by Changex & Microsoft)This was an environmental awareness project funded by Changex and Microsoft, showcasing a diverse range of activities aimed at nurturing sustainable practices among participants. Activities included a children's eco trip to Wales with activities such as wetland orienteering, bug hotel construction, and climate change training sessions.The project's holistic approach, featuring a diverse array of activities encompassing children's eco trips, wetland orienteering, bug hotel construction, climate change training sessions, woodland walks, firewood harvesting, farm activities including animal feeding, pea harvesting, and food cultivation, has yielded profound and lasting positive impacts, perfectly aligned with the project's fundamental themes.Richmond Great Big Green Week 2023: Children’s Eco-learning Trip to Kew GardensOur eco-learning trip to Kew Gardens offered an enriching experience for children, fostering environmental stewardship and responsibility. The guided tour aboard the Kew Explorer train provided interactive and educational insights into botanical wonders, complemented by environment-themed games and quizzes.Whitton Data Bank: (Supported by the Good Thing Foundation & their partners ) We applied and received a consignment of sim cards and data vouchers from the National Data to support members in the vulnerable of less fortunate community remain connected with their loved ones and friends as well as accessing essential services especially since almost all essential services have moved online post Covid. In conclusion, Transit Community Support CIC has demonstrated unwavering dedication and effectiveness in fulfilling its mission of enhancing community well-being and resilience.
