The principle activity of the CIC is to represent the Parent Carer Forums in North East and Cumbria by working with partner organisations across education, health and social care to improve services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).Through drawing on regional forums experiences and listening to wider parent carer voice we will work to ensure that services planned and delivered across the regional network are meeting the need of the community. We will work to be a representative voice in commissioning and delivery. Through surveys, meetings, events and information days we will allow parent carers the opportunity and space to share their experiences and provide them with information to empower them to navigate their system. Hosting sessions and events with a focus on SEND systems and how to navigate them, keeping parent carers up to day with changes to processes and legislation. We have created a strong regional network for Parent Carer Forums. These are well attended and representative of the whole region. They are held bi-monthly and provide the opportunity to share good practice and provide training to forums. This in turn allows forums to cascade information to families/communities in their own local area.Representation has been provided on strategic and decision making boards throughout Education, Health and Social Care. This representation ensures that the voice of parent carers is heard and listened to as we work in co-production.
The stakeholders are our 14 Parent Carer Forums which reside in the North East and Cumbria. We have ran polls, surveys and regular meeting to gather feedback. The direction of the CIC is informed by these results.
