Year Ending: 31 August 2023

Company activities and impact

Art and Spirituality CIC is a beacon of community wellness and inclusivity, nestled in the heart of Gorgie, Edinburgh, with a studio, a therapy room and connected to a small cafe. “Spirituality” entails personal growth and inner development focused on enhancing individual well-being, and it does not associate with “religion”. Since its transformation into a social enterprise in August 2022, Art and Spirituality has been steadfast in its commitment to fostering holistic well-being and cultural enrichment for all. At the core of our ethos is our dedication to providing a welcoming space where local residents from all walks of life can embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and creative expression. Our diverse range of offerings, including arts workshops, exhibitions, therapies such as reiki, counselling, coaching, healing therapies, hypnotherapy, massage, craniosacral and more and classes such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, dance, cooking lessons and more, reflects our belief in the power of diverse modalities to nurture mind, body, and soul. Led by a team of passionate ethnic minority women, we champion inclusion, diversity, and human rights education. Through our proactive engagement with the community, and our strong partnership with other local charities, we strive to build trust, forge connections, and amplify underrepresented voices. Our mission is not only to enhance mental, emotional, and physical well-being but also to cultivate a sense of belonging and support in an atmosphere free of judgment that promotes self-healing. Our mission goes beyond the traditional notions of well-being: it encompasses a deeper quest for meaning and purpose in life. Our organization is dedicated to guiding individuals on a journey of self-discovery to uncover their life purpose. Art and Spirituality has served as a catalyst for transformative life changes, inspiring individuals to follow their hearts and pursue their passions with courage and determination. Countless stories of personal and professional metamorphosis bear testament to the profound impact of our mission. One such example is a lady who courageously departed from the confines of corporate life to embark on a journey of self-discovery and service as a nutritionist. Her decision to heed the call of her innermost desires, nourishing both herself and others, stands as a testament to the power of authenticity and self-belief. Similarly, a young lady who once found herself immersed in the world of cookery found the courage to venture beyond familiar shores, answering the call to become a teacher in Japan. Her leap of trust, fuelled by the encouragement and support of our community, exemplifies the transformative potential of pursuing our dreams. These stories of empowerment and reinvention are just a glimpse of the countless lives touched and transformed by the guiding support of our CIC. As we continue to champion self-discovery, authenticity, and purposeful living, we remain steadfast in our commitment to inspiring others to embrace their dreams and embark on paths aligned with their truest selves.Ethical and sustainable principles permeate every aspect of our organization, from the sourcing of materials for our events to the management of our facilities and operations. Consultation with stakeholders

At Art and Spirituality CIC, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our programs and activities effectively meet the needs and expectations of our stakeholders, which are residents of South West Edinburgh and visitors. To achieve this, we employ a comprehensive survey system that solicits feedback from participants before and after attending our classes. Before each class, attendees are asked to complete a pre-class survey, which helps us gather valuable personal information about their expectations, goals, and current well-being status. This allows us to tailor the content and delivery of each class to better meet the specific needs and preferences of our diverse community. After the class, participants are invited to fill out a post-class survey, which enables us to assess the impact and effectiveness of the session. By gathering feedback on factors such as enjoyment, perceived benefits, and areas for improvement, we gain valuable insights into the overall satisfaction and well-being outcomes of our programs. The data collected from these surveys serves multiple purposes:1. Program Evaluation: We use the survey data to evaluate the effectiveness of our classes in meeting the intended objectives and benefiting participants. This helps us continuously improve and refine our offerings to better serve the needs of our stakeholders.2. Content Tailoring: The feedback gathered from surveys informs our decisions on future class content. By understanding which topics and formats resonate most with our audience, we can tailor our offerings to align more closely with their interests and needing. At present, many of our attendees are grappling with significant challenges related to stress, anxiety, and isolation. These issues are pervasive and can have a profound impact on individuals' mental, emotional, and physical well-being. At Art and Spirituality CIC, we recognize the urgency of addressing these pressing concerns and are committed to providing meaningful support and resources to our community members. In response to these challenges, our organization offers a wide range of programs and activities specifically designed to address the needs of individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, and isolation. Through practices such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and art therapy, we provide participants with tools and techniques to manage stress, calm the mind, and cultivate inner peace. Additionally, our classes and workshops serve as inclusive spaces where individuals can connect with others, fostering a sense of belonging and support. 3. Funding Justification: The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from surveys provide valuable evidence of the positive impact of our programs, which can be used to justify funding requests from external sources. Demonstrating the tangible benefits and outcomes of our initiatives strengthens our case for financial support from grants and other funding sources.Overall, our survey system plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and responsiveness to the needs of our stakeholders. By actively engaging participants in the feedback process, we empower them to shape the direction of our programming and contribute to the ongoing success of our organization.
