Company activities and impact

In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Nurturing Your Needs (NYN) is a social enterprise that works with young students, between the age bracket of 11-18, holding workshops offering career advice, motivational and resilience training. We also aim to provide a work experience programme giving students opportunities to experience what it is like to run a business on a day-to-day basis. Secondly, we can offer students who are interested in furthering their education specialising in vocational subjects, experience in working in those fields. For example, students interested in videography will have the opportunity to see what it is like to plan and execute a filming day. Due to Covid, we have not be able to carry out this Outreach Programme, however, at the beginning of 2020 we did work with an organisation called UK Youth delivering a session to a group of young adults on identity and authenticity. Another part of our business which is a more lucrative part of our social enterprise is our multimedia services. This part of our social enterprise provides companies and individuals with graphic design, videography services and journalism services which includes writing articles for magazines and articles for various outlets.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are school, colleges, local authorities and the community of Thurrock as a whole. The Directors, being ourselves, have lived in Thurrock, the county of Essex to be precise for over 25 years, we all attended school and college in Thurrock. As our Outreach programme is connecting with students we have to reach out to schools and colleges and local authorities within Thurrock to inform them of what we aim to achieve. Our social enterprise is beneficial to the Community as it will encourage young people to stay in school and further their education. By helping those struggling with mainstream education, they will be able to stay motivated and encouraged and believe that their chosen subject can turn into a career. We have sent out letters to schools and have received a positive response from a couple but however due to Covid this was taken off their agenda. However, we are planning to get back in contacts with schools via a different method to reintroduce our Outreach Programme to them.
