Additional information
RecruitmentWe have had many men asked to volunteer in the last few months and they can be seen as the staff of the future and possible directors. But it is worth noting we will have to look at our recruiting as we are growing at speed.TrainingThis is going to be key and so important this year as all volunteers will need to be trained especially if they lack experience or have gaps in their training So there will be a full program of training carried out.FundraisingWe have been successful in bidding for funds which we rely very heavily on. This is seen as a weakness and will be addressed in future years.PublicitySocial Media has proven to be very successful and our website has been a good tool but we have recognized that the site needs redevelopment and updating. Working with other organisations and local groups has also helped with reports in the local press and radio.ConclusionThis report covers a successful year for ManLeigh we have achieved well beyond our plans and wildest expectations but our growth has shown some weak points and we have naturally made mistakes as an effect of light-speed growth that couldn't have been avoided but we must now learn and address and work to make ManLeigh a better and stronger organisation for the future.

ObjectivesWe at ManLeigh worked very hard this last year to provide a safe place where men could talk without fear and not be judged or interrupted and learn and practice those social skills that may have long been forgotten or not been able to practice as much as they had in the past. This has been achieved successfully.ActivitiesWe set up what become outreach groups which have grown in numbers and popularity. Also note there is a natural growth and decrease in the number of all outreach groups as members come and go at their own choosing some choosing to stay longer than others a very small minority have left due non suitability or disciplinary matters. Others have since become volunteers and members of the board. The general practice is an uptake in new members. ManLeigh has had between 120 to 180 men access our services in this first year.Unfortunately not all can be recorded as some are patients in hospitals and we have to respect their own confidentiality so there are no records of them accessing ManLeigh only those held by the hospital itself. The outreach groups are listed belowTesco Extra community room every SaturdayLeigh Library every Tuesday afternoonAtherleigh Park every Tuesday eveningSt Mary the Virgin church Community room Wednesday afternoonOver the last year, we have also included other activities such as the golfing range and Archery and some social events once again I have received very positive feedback back from those who attended these on these occasions.
Community workThe Community has been one of the biggest areas of growth. Still, sadly we get little or no funding which will have to be addressed in the future as the need to visit guys in the community who struggle to attend Men's groups or any organisation and have already felt let down by the NHS. We can offer walks and talks, go for a jog, or bike ride or just simply meet up for a brew and a chat will become a big demand on ManLeigh in time to come. To give an idea of this growth for our community work and the outreach we have to look at where our referrals come from and to these are listed them here:-Gp'sCommunity Link workersHome support workersWigan Wigan Mental health team Leigh Infirmary Mental Health teamAtherleigh Park HospitalSocial MediaProbationPolicePartners/Members of the familyAny or other organisations to do with supporting families or men
