COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LEIGH APPLE GROUP COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 12565805 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2023

Company activities and impact

The Apple Press Group has undertaken substantial work in renovating and maintaining the community orchard. It has organised pruning workshops in which the community has been invited to participate. It has delivered a Wassail event in the orchard to which the community was invited with over 70 parishioners attending, In September the group set up an Apple Press Day to which parishioners were invited to bring their own crop of apples . The group then pressed the apples delivering back to the community apple juice. This year the group pressed and bottled 500 litres of apple juice. We are continuing our relationship with the local school to arrange visits to the orchard at key times throughout the year. Lastly we built a walkway to the orchard across a ditch to allow safe access, including for wheelchair users.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Apple Press Group (APG) reports back regularly to the Parish Council on progress in the orchard as the PC is the owner of the orchard and given the APG licence to manage it. We update the Community on a monthly basis through the Parish Magazine. We have engaged those interested in supporting the Group how best they wish to be involved, as a result we will be delivering guided walks and a grafting workshop.
