Local Sustainable CIC has benefitted the community through enabling opportunities for members to enjoy access to Spring RiseCommunity Gardens for ongoing land-based learning opportunities, open days, celebrations, workshops, workdays and culturalevents. The activities on the land have not only provided rich educational opportunities, but have also brought all ages together,serving as a growth point and spring-board for collaboration and initiative taking between members to further inspire ways of livingand working more locally and sustainably. Activities which have taken place at Spring Rise have included:-a weekly homesteadinggroup for children -weekly tending sessions on the land (vegetable garden, forest garden, tree nursery)-regular workshops on thetheme of local and sustainable food, craft and culture.-tree choir -local and sustainable building projects with youth and volunteers-aharvest festival, comprised of local and sustainable food, workshops and activities provided by community members-children's craftactivities in collaboration with Tablehurst Farm's lambing day events.
The company's stakeholders are primarily residents of the Forest Row area and surrounds. The directors of the company have lived inthe Forest Row area for many years, and have discovered that a local, land-based learning space was high in demand for many like-minded initiatives to do their work. As a result, Spring Rise has become a hub of educational opportunities and cross pollinationbetween people and projects, all with the aim of supporting the furthering of our local and sustainable Forest Row community in theirmultitude of ways. Spring Rise Community Gardens grows and adapts with the needs of our multi-generational community, shiningas an example of the emerging future taking root. There is continuous consultation with stakeholders, which shapes and directs thecourse of action.
