Play Therapy South West CIC aim is to provide Psychological Therapies and support to children and young people at risk of being excluded from mainstream education.Intervention is offered to not only the children and young people themselves, but the professionals around the child through the use of education, consultation and clinical supervision.This year we have provided training on the benefits of the use of Psychological Therapies to children and young people at a SENCO Conference (the CIC have not received a fee for this).We have delivered training to Play and Creative Psychotherapists on Development Trauma, supporting our understanding of our clientele's need (Charges taken have only covered overheads of running the course).We have provided a one-off consultation to the Inclusion Service, providing education on the benefits of using Psychological Therapies with Children and Young People at risk of exclusion (the CIC have not received a fee for this)We have provided a signposting service; signposting Play Therapists to potential funding that they can apply for to support their work with children and young people. We have also signposted mainstream schools to therapists who have availability in their area (the CIC has not received a fee for this).
The Company's Stakeholders are:The Children and Young People who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream primary schools.Sendco's of the local mainstream primary schoolsLocal Authority Inclusion ServicePsychological TherapistsBoth of the companies directors have had numerous years involvement within education acting in different role, as well as offering Play Therapy. Their experience has led them to developing a CIC being aware of gaps within provision and growing need within the service.The Directors have consulted with Play Therapists in the local area, connecting with their experiences and understanding of need.The Directors have consulted with the Local Authority Inclusion Service to connect with the level of need, their understanding of need, their current responses to this need, and what they would like to offer (including the Psychological Therapies within this picture).We have continued to liaise with Sedco's and Head Teachers in the local area, listening to their experiences and connecting with need within their schools.Teachers have fed back the benefits of 1:1 therapy to their work, offering a specialist service to the children that they support.
