COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THE PARROT THEATRE COMPANY CIC

Company Number: 12037376 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2023

Company activities and impact

We performed a production of Macbeth in a small heritage venue in Canterbury for three performance nights. We engaged local artists, musicians and actors in this production and performed in a historical venue of local interest, an old converted gaol.During this financial year, we also began auditioning and planning for a local Kent-wide tour of a new theatre production called 'Death and the Carpenter' which engaged a local playwright, a local puppeteer and local musicians and actors. We are a very small theatre company so have a limited, local remit but we create theatre to benefit the local community, including focusing on local artists being involved in the creative roles and production and broadening the creative engagement for local audiences in deprived areas that don't often access culture, particularly along the East Kent Coast. We also try to engage with local education centres and universities in Canterbury to provide training opportunities and skills for young people and students in theatre and puppetry.
