For the year ending 30 June 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises the invoiced value of goods and services supplied by the company plus grants received, net of Value Added Tax (where VAT registered) and trade discounts.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, are stated at cost or valuation less depreciation and any provision for impairment. Company activities and impact

In 2023 Mend Assembly have continued our mission to provide a permanent physical space for local clothing and textiles practitioners to operate in a collective environment that provides access to equipment, shared resources and promotions for their sustainable fashion practice. We have continued our provision of weekly socials where all members of the community are invited to make use of the space in a socially positive setting, while learning new skills and sharing knowledge on textile making and repair skills. We have also continued to provide a clothing mending and repairs service to the local community.

Consultation with stakeholders

Mend Assemblies stakeholders include other social enterprises and community oriented initiatives, local businesses and micro businesses and a wide range of citizens who benefit from access to informal social settings and clothing and textiles making skills and knowledge exchange. We have formal membership schemes for individuals ( Social Members) and for local clothing and textiles practitioners (Residnet Practitioners) We host informal consultations with our Social Memebers via our weekly social event and we have hosted meetings with our Resident Practitioners and attended meetings with other local community groups in order to respond to their preferences and needs continue to improve our services. We have also co hosted events and created collaborative products with other local businesses.
