Accounting policies |
Basis of preparation |
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with FRS 102, The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (as applied to small entities by section 1A of the standard). |
Turnover |
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs. |
Stocks |
Stocks are measured at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost is determined using the first in first out method. The carrying amount of stock sold is recognised as an expense in the period in which the related revenue is recognised. |

Reserves |
Neuadd Cwmllynfell Hall signed a new building lease during the 2017/18 financial year with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Due to the obligations under this lease the committee have decided to hold a £10,000 reserves fund. The fund will only be used in the event of any major repairs and maintenance required to the part of the building leased by Neuadd Cwmllynfell Hall. This policy will be reviewed at the end of each financial year. |
Note on the profit figure |
Neuadd Cwmllynfell Hall shows a loss this year of £15,718. After adjusting for depreciation costs of £5,002 the loss for the year comes to £10,121. Neuadd Cwmllynfell Hall also had to register for VAT during the year and in total has paid £13,154 to HMRC. Without this VAT bill the Hall would have made a small profit. There has also been a reduction in grants during the year from £46,440 last year to £37,744 this year a drop of £8,696. The combined effect of the VAT costs and reduction in Grant income represents a total revenue loss to the Hall of £21,850. This explains the larger than normal loss this year. Prices have been adjusted to try and cover this loss of income but these will take time to feed through. |
