COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

WREXHAM AFRICA COMMUNITY C.I.C.

Company Number: 13156889 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2024

Company activities and impact

Wrexham Africa Community CIC brings all Africans living in Wrexham and surrounding areas together, and also brings in other ethnicities that want to be associated with us. We bring the community together by organising events during the year in Wrexham; our past events include a Fashion Show, Jubilee Party, trips to Llandudno and our annual Christmas Party. We also have a private WhatsApp group where people can advertise their work, request services, ask questions or get advice. We also have a community-run shop in Wrexham called Obehi's, where we have a few volunteers who help out with the day-to-day tasks and job roles of a shop. Opening the shop meant we were able to reduce the mileage of people travelling to get their African groceries. Before we opened the shop, we were (and still are) fortunate enough to produce African grocery hampers to those in Wrexham and surrounding areas who have no recourse to public funds, and to those who can't drive or have to drive a significant distance to get their home groceries.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Company's stakeholders are the members of the public and the members of the Wrexham Africa Community as a whole. The directors of the company have lived in Wrexham for many years, some longer than others, and have quickly realised how little African groceries are available in Wrexham. To be able to get African groceries, the closest they could travel was to Liverpool which would be a struggle for someone who doesn't drive and has no recourse to public funds.

Directors' remuneration

No remuneration was received
