    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Other accounting policies

    The company is entitled to exemption from audit under Section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 for the year ended 31 July 2023.The members have not required the charity to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. Company activities and impact

PlayWise Learning CIC is a small not for profit company supporting approximately 300 children with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disability) & their families, providing Portage, a home visiting education service and a range of bespoke activities, training and advice and guidance. We work alongside a range of professionals from Health, Care, Education and the Voluntary Sector. We deliver training on all things SEND and support nurseries and schools to provide inclusive practice. We provide a safe space for children and their families to attend without fear of judgement or ridicule and offer highly professional & practical advice and guidance from qualified and experienced staff.During the financial year 2022-2023 we have supported our community through the following activities:Portage – home visiting education service (0-3yrs) 140 childrenPIP (Playwise Intervention Plus) education service (0-8yrs) 55 childrenPlaywise Annual memberships – 150 familiesHub play sessions – 7 sessions per week during term time, 10 sessions during holidayYoga for Parents – all membersBite size training for parents/carers – all membersParent Workshops – all membersTraining courses for professionals - 60Sleep Counselling – 10 familiesNursery/School support/training – 18 different schools/nurseriesEarly Bird parent programme for children with ASD – 18 families per yearPost Diagnosis Support programme – 25 families per yearAdvice & Guidance – more than 300 familiesCommunity outings/trips – 120 childrenChristmas Grotto – 200 childrenPortage continues to be at the heart of the PlayWise offer and remains an essential service for parents and children as they embark on their journey into the world of disability and SEND.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include, parents, children, professionals, staff, local community agencies & businesses & the Local Authority.We regularly engage our stakeholders via formal surveys, as well as focus groups on specific topics and activities. We use the feedback to inform service delivery, for quality assurance, scrutiny & due diligence. Examples of how we have used said feedback is by providing relevant information. Short courses, developing courses that are bespoke and relevant to the needs of the parents, along with training for professionals working with SEND children. We have also reviewed our opening times and introduced new group sessions for parents. Our training courses and resources/materials are kept up to date, based on feedback from recipients.We continue with ongoing consultation and regular monitoring & evaluation of individual programmes & services including, parents, professionals and commissioners to ensure that we are able to deliver a consistently high quality provision along with needs led service development. We use a variety of means that include questionnaires, surveys and anecdotal evidence. Portage is a service within the PlayWise umbrella that is commissioned by London Borough of Sutton, KPI’s are set by the authority and there are quarterly monitoring meetings, ongoing reviews and regular communication with lead commissioners to ensure that we are providing the high quality service that they expect. Additionally, we are commissioned to deliver the Early Bird and Post Diagnosis Programmes, each of which have KPi’s and specific outcomes that we successfully deliver to.
