This year we have been moving all our wellbeing support and workshops to a new area within the grounds of our Centre. The tearoom has taken over most of the space in our building and despite the need for the tearoom income to support the Centre, our wellbeing work has been restricted and limited in its outreach and capacity. In our new area, we have be continuing in our informal wellbeing support and also we will be delivering two types of more structured workshop groups, one for families and individuals and one for businesses, schools and groups.FAMILIES AND INDIVIUALSThe workshops and support groups below are designed with all the various complexities of family life in mind. The purpose of the workshops is to provide a safe environment for people to share and support each other in various aspects of family life. Each session will be led by people who are experienced within their given fields. Family Life is Holy Ground!Who am I?This one-day workshop uses approaches in personality types in trying to understand better how we function and operate in different environments. The workshop helps us understand why we react with way we do, what makes us tick, how we nurture our gifts and how do we relate to others. In understanding more of ourselves we can better understand others around us. This workshop can also we delivered as part of a team building workshop for groups and teams.Parenting support workshopThis workshop is for all parents regardless of type and context. The workshop is both for those who are happy in their parenting scenarios and those that are looking for support and advise. There are no better teachers of parenting than parents themselves. Support group for those living through the Menopause. What can for some be a scary point in their lives, the menopause is gaining traction within society of something that needs greater attention and understanding of to support women on this part of their journey. Whilst women are at the centre of this support, better understanding within the family will only further support women during this period in life. This support group is an opportunity to come to together and share and offer advice to each other. It’s a fortnightly support group and will be led by a trained support worker for women going through the menopause, will we also invite various guest speakers as and when appropriate. YogaWe will be running a Yoga group each week at our centre which will also cater for those required to be seated during the workshop. This has been a popular workshop in the past and if numbers allow, we may run this workshop twice a week. Our Yoga teacher is also a nutritionist and will be happy to give informal advice regarding nutritional questions and developing healthy eating choices. Forest Schooling Our trained level three Forest School teacher will be delivering occasional Forest School events throughout the year. Whilst we will be offering workshops to the local community with young children we are also exploring forest school workshops for adults and the elderly to meet our demographic and that of our surrounding area. Everyone should have access to the woodland and the various skills of cooking, crafting and building friendships and cohesion with a shared experience of working together in a woodland.Half and full Day of mental health awareness for everyone. These courses will be available to all and will include support in living with people who are suffering with mental illness. We will be also exploring a workshop with the intention of supporting people living with elderly relatives, particularly considering the demographic of the area. Business, schools and groupsMany of the workshops above are transferable in supporting relationships within the workplace. Paladin Education our partner in delivering our workshops can provide coaching and support for leadership that can be delivered at our Centre. Team building and well-being strategies are more than a tick box exercise, they are essential for delivering productivity through contented staff and teams. Our philosophy in supporting existing well-being strategies within organisations, schools and business is to support and aid people to nurture resilience, rather than simply ‘pulling up our socks and putting a smile on our faces’. Contentment within the workplace requires a piecing together our whole life so as to create authenticity, which in turn breeds honesty and mutual respect. Why do we work? Why are we working in our job? If it does, where does my work support and fit within my family, leisure and social context. Half Day Mental Health Awareness for Youth and Higher EducationFull Day Mental Health Awareness Champion for Youth and Higher EducationTwo Day Mental Health Frist Aid for Youth and Higher EducationLeadership DevelopmentOne to one coaching for leaders using NLP techniques.Leadership development through MBTIDeveloping line management skillsOur Centre will also be providing a memorial garden for people to use as they remember loved ones that have pasted, or and place to reflect and be still. This part of our Centre is currently being built by a volunteer who is using this opportunity to support his own struggles with mental health difficulties. The garden will be open when the Centre is open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-4pmOur Wellbeing drop in evening runs every week on a Wednesday 6-8pm and we have various guest speakers who come and speak on various topics.
