Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 July 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

Company activities and impact

The ME Project provides a mental health service for children and adults living in the Doncaster area and surrounding villages. In particular, the ME Project offers 1:1 support through mentoring, counselling, Art therapy, Play therapy, couples counselling and groups with children.During the last year the ME Project has offered 1:1 support to a number of young people and adults and continues to offer this service and benefits people living locally. The ME Project benefits or community in the following ways:Offering 1:1 support for people struggling with mental health issuesProviding high quality couples & relationship counselling for people living locallyOrganising and facilitating family fun & event days for the local community in collaboration with other local organisations supporting family welfareGiving opportunities to mentors and volunteers living in the local area, offering training and experiences for them to develop and grow in their field of expertiseUsing counsellors and therapists who live in the local area to provide services reducing the need for travelling and home/work mileageOffering wellbeing groups and art groups for children under 18 struggling with mental health issuesBeing a point of contact for schools, services and other organisations for advice and consultationThe ME Project has offered over 500 hours of direct support to individuals and groups over the last financial year.

Consultation with stakeholders

Direct 1:1 support is monitored and client’s suggestions and requirements are considered when formulating service delivery decisions, we consider how best the mix of clients can be served by our team. Groups are asked for direct written feedback at the end of the group experience, this has sometimes been difficult to obtain but the feedback we have received is discussed among the volunteers and directors and used to inform the next group plan and how to improve. For example one client informed us that over 18 years of previous mental health services, none would actually support her to go into the community, her main difficulty being Agoraphobia and she could not leave her home. We used this information to develop changes in our mentoring service where clients can now be taken into the community as part of their support sessions with mentors if required, risk assessed and safe to do so. This client now goes into the community with her mentor and is now able to buy some items in shops, something she had not done for over 18 years.Direct Client feedback is used to ensure that we stay flexible and open to change within the whole organisation.
