Baccanalia For Culture CIC has hosted several events that have enriched the cultural fabric of Bishop Auckland and its surrounding towns. Notable events include Bishop Auckland's Christmas Town, which has been a massive success, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. The event featured a variety of attractions like ice skating, a festive bandstand, a Tipi Bar, a Ferris Wheel, a Giant Snow globe, and numerous Christmas Market pitches. The company also organised the Shildon Leap Festival, an artistic and cultural event that transformed Shildon Town Square with interactive light installations and activities, fostering community spirit and cultural engagement. We engaged with local primary schools to develop artistic skills and deliver installations for the event. Additional events like the monthly Bishop Auckland Street Food Markets and the Cabaret Club have also been integral parts of our activities. They offer diverse culinary experiences and social engagement opportunities for LGBTQIA+ community members. The Street Food Markets are free to attend and feature live music and activities for families, which opensaccess to cultural and social engagement.Over the past year, we have orchestrated/coordinated more than 70,000 visits to Bishop Auckland Town Centre, contributing significantly to the arts and cultural economy and the wider local economy.
Baccanalia For Culture CIC engages a diverse range of stakeholders, including local communities, local businesses, and local authorities. Our stakeholder engagement is intrinsic to the development of the vibrant and community-centric events we organise.A key example of our stakeholder-driven approach is the Christmas Town event, developed in partnership with Bishop Auckland Town Council and other local entities. These partnerships are fundamental to our programming, ensuring that our events are tailored to the needs andinterests of the community. We actively seek feedback from our stakeholders to measure our impact and inform future event planning. This feedback is gathered both in-person at events, through surveys, and digitally post-event. The insights obtained are crucial in shaping our future initiatives, ensuringthey resonate with and benefit our community. For the Shildon Leap Festival, we employed artists to work with local primary schools, enabling children to create artworks that were later showcased to their community. This not only engaged the children creatively but also fostered a sense of community pride andinvolvement. Our food and beverage traders, who are integral to our events, are all local businesses deeply invested in the local economy and community. We maintain an open and ongoing dialogue with these traders, ensuring our collaborations are mutually beneficial and aligned with community interests.Looking ahead to 2024, we are expanding our outreach and impact. We have initiated discussions with several local authorities, including Aycliffe, Durham/Crook, Spennymoor, Barnard Castle, and Shildon. Our goal is to understand how to best collaborate with these communities and deliver engagement that is tailored and relevant, furthering our mission to enrich local culture and community spirit through our events
