The company offers Trauma Focused emotional support to direct and indirect victims of sexual, domestic and relational trauma. The company launched in October 2020. During the financial year 2022-2023 the activities of Trauma Recovery CIC have benefited the community in the following ways: Providing individual short-term trauma therapy to direct adult victims of sexual violence in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire. Each individual has been offered up to 12 sessions of fully funded therapy. Providing individual short term trauma therapy to direct victims of sexual violence aged 13-17 years old in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire. Each individual has been offered up to 12 sessions of fully funded therapy and parents have been included where appropriate in order to support them to support the young people. Providing individual short term trauma therapy to direct child (4-13 years old) victims of sexual violence in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire. Each individual has been offered up to 12 sessions of fully funded therapy. Sessions have been offered to the child with their parent/s and where the child has not engaged sessions have been offered to their parent to support the family. Liaised with schools and colleges (including education support units for young people who would otherwise not receive this support) in Hertfordshire, offering education based workshops on the subject of healthy relationships, sexual assault and the law with a view to enhancing their knowledge, preventing sexual assault and abuse and encouraging the young people to use their voice to recognise and challenge inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour in themselves and others. Following workshops we are aware of several disclosures of sexual violence made by young people. Other feedback focused on increased education and a feeling of being able to recognise and challenge behaviours. Working as part of multi-disciplinary support in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire to raise awareness of sexual, domestic and relational trauma, including attending review meetings, multi-agency planning meetings and talking at events hosted by other agencies. Identifying need within the community and developing a number of projects: Working with addiction service Working with an Integrated Offender Management service providing trauma therapy to their service users Continued offering therapeutic groups to women in a refuge Further developing a low cost open ended counselling service with support offered by volunteer counsellors Developing a student counsellor placement programme to support the professional development of local counsellors Providing clinical supervision to qualified counsellors to support their professional development Trauma Recovery CIC has provided individual therapy to the following numbers: Children aged 3-13 years: 35 Young People aged 14-17 years: 41 Adults aged 18 years and over: 466 Total number of individuals supported: 542
The company’s stakeholders are residents of the Counties where services are offered: Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex who have experienced sexual, domestic and/or relational trauma. The directors of the company have developed the business model based on working in the field of trauma for the past 20 years, and talking with current and previous clients, other professionals, and potential clients about what is needed to support to heal from the effects of trauma. We ask everyone using Trauma Recovery CIC services to complete a short feedback form following accessing TRCIC services. This has helped us to develop our services and respond to current need, ensuring that we are able to meet our aim of a dynamic, flexible service. We responded to identified need by: Successfully applying for funding to expand our trauma therapy service to include: Trauma focused individual therapy for indirect victims of sexual violence (those supporting direct victims) Open ended funded trauma focused therapy for direct and indirect victims of sexual violence Expanding our therapeutic team by recruiting and training new therapists to enable us to support more people Increasing our presence on social media and offering educational information around trauma healing Expanding the work with the addiction support service enabling us to offer trauma focused therapy to more people in active addiction over a wider geographical area Improving our relationships with local partners in order to strengthen our partnership working and provide more cohesive support for vulnerable clients
