COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

AIKO HEALTH CIC

Company Number: 11465470 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2023

Company activities and impact

AIKO has changed the company name by resolution to AIKO Health CIC on 09/01/2023 with the certificate issued on 11/01/2023.This was to enable a broader reach of clientele incorporating the wider family and community support systems in a young child’s life. This includes encompassing the wider determinants of health such as community activities and supportive relationships. Reflecting on the ‘Kirklees Year of Music – 2023’ theme, AIKO has developed a network of musicians and technicians that can be coordinated to contribute to community cohesion and social support for families through music events and therapies. The company has not been actively consulting with parents’ face to face, or verbally in this year, but has maintained an online presence through an active website and social media accounts. AIKO shares information about relevant local support services, other online guidance and strategies regarding positively caring for a young family's internal and external relationships, health and resulting wellbeing. The directors have been training in ‘Health Coaching, Midwifery and community Consultation to enable a greater awareness of need and ability to promote self-efficacy for local families.

Consultation with stakeholders

Discussions were undertaken with expectant and new parent's at groups and gatherings such as, toddler groups, health visiting baby clinics, and local children's centre's. These highlighted a perceived lack of available and accessible support provisions postnatally that enabled new parent's to meet together and discuss their transition into parenthood. They felt a need to discuss how they were managing emotionally with the transition and coping with their own and babies emotions and crying, in a mutually peer supportive environment. It was also felt that this type of support would be best offered within a setting that was supported by an experienced and trained professional/s to provide attendees with evidenced-based information and signposting.Review of available services by AIKO identified that there appeared to be no easily available information regarding any similar services being offered locally, to include the established NCT provision, with the nearest NCT postnatal groups being held in a different local authority and over 40 minutes car travel away.
