This is the path to creative energy release.A space for people to reconnect to their bodies through natureMany who have experienced Dance Free report a renewed sense of connection to their bodies which has led to a reduction in feelings of anxiety and stress. Facilitators are trained to inspire the group to tune into the subtle interplay of sensations and impulses from both inside and outside their bodies. To create a deeper appreciation of nature The free movement experiences are regularly held in natural spaces that participants may not have hitherto been or will not have interacted to in such a way. This fosters an enhanced sense of nature connectedness in attendees. We have collaborated with the Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival, Old Wood Organic and Natural England to run events which promotes the appreciation and value of 16 local green and blue public spaces.Participants develop a deep sense of connectedness to nature through their dance journey and feel honour bound to pick litter, plant trees, care for their green and blue spaces and help in nature’s recovery. Participants’ pro-environmental behaviour is encouraged through our eco-enrichment activities. We use solar power to recharge our wireless headsets and other devices. We use a wind turbine to charge electronic devices on cloudy days.We encourage car sharing and using public transport when promoting our events. Dance Free CIC has access to an electric vehicle and uses this whenever possible.
The stakeholders of Dance Free are the community of Lincolnshire, funders and organisations we have collaborated with to run events. We invite feedback and reviews of our sessions on a regular basis and have received around 90 reviews. These have all been very positive. We have engaged with community groups online sharing information on and also requesting feedback about our events. When running events in collaboration with local organisations we share knowledge on the needs of prospective participants when designing the events and afterwards report numbers and demographics of attendees, as well as feedback from participants. For funded projects we report on outcomes and provide community impact reports to funders. 6 directors are currently on the Dance Free governance team. Directors and Committee members formally meet twice a year.
