Workie Ticket Theatre CIC is an award winning, North Tyneside based and female-led theatre company, producing work in the local community which reflects current social issues. We specialise in supporting mental health, delivering drama workshops, collaborative community theatre, supporting academic research, producing brave productions, and engaging marginalised groups to re-tell their stories. We aim to amplify unheard voices through theatre by using drama as a tool to engage. We are dedicated to raising awareness and empowering groups on the margins of society, by shedding light on genuine stories from survivors of abuse, sexual violence, male violence against women and girls, discrimination, prejudice and inequality. A commitment to creating real positive social impact through theatre is at the very heart of what we do. Throughout the year, we have provided free or low-cost, high-quality theatre productions and workshops for our local community.During the financial year Jan 2023-Jan 2024, our activities have benefitted the community in the following ways: - Continued to create safe spaces for women in our communities to express themselves through our theatre and drama work including face-to-face and online workshops, sessions and projects. - Continued to develop our platform to empower the groups we work with to feel respected, inspired to heal and support their mental health. As well as reduce stress and anxiety, build confidence, encourage self-care, provide a place to feel included and to share their common experiences- creating a platform for them to be heard. - Completed our Menopause project – ‘Stand By Your Fan’ project with Newcastle University, exploring how we can help support women in the workplace who are going through the menopause. Worked with a community cast of women to create a theatre production which was also filmed. - Launched our ‘Walk the Line’ project. Delivered a series of performance style workshops around the subject of misogyny using the play ‘I Walk The Line’ which we developed with survivors of domestic abuse-this was to raise awareness of post-separation abuse. - Toured and delivered five performances of ‘I Walk the Line’ in the NE community. - Took part in the16 days of Activism against Gender-based violence campaign -working with our Creative Conference to raise awareness of Post-Separation Abuse.- Worked with White Ribbon UK to develop resources and workshops to end male violence against women and girls. - Worked with Durham Police to create a Virtual Reality training package/script for Family Court. This work will be continue throughout the year. - Delivered a series of Drama for Wellbeing workshops across the North East. - Began work on our ‘The Wrong Type’ project with Northumbria University working with local charities, women’s groups to develop our work around post-separation abuse.
The company stakeholders are women in the North East Community who need extra support because of social isolation or because they are in an at-risk group. This includes women from North and South Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. We are also working with men to raise awareness and end male violence against women and girls. The directors are from the North East and have worked for a number of years within these communities in various capacities- including working with women who have been in abusive relationships and women who need support with their mental health. We consult with our stakeholders by conducting on-line questionnaires/surveys, collating feedback after workshops in discussion-based activities & writing project reports to help support improvement in our work. We also organise regular meetings and have an online community group where we discuss responses to our projects. Our research has enabled us to develop an aftercare course and signpost our groups to local mental health support. We also work with IDVAs and ISVAs. The directors hold bi-monthly meetings throughout the year to discuss accounts, new projects and the future of Workie Ticket.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £10850. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
